Motorola’s New and Improved Droid Razr M Android Smartphone

Motorola DROID RAZR MAXX 4G Android PhoneMotorola has never been on my list until the release of Motorola Razr M. when I first bought my Android based Motorola smartphone Clig XT it was a terrible experience. It was an underpowered good for nothing smartphone which was soon abandoned after its release. Running on Android 1 point something it never got upgraded to next level and in the end all I was left with was CyanogenMod which gave it life for another few months or so.

The Droid Razr M [Affiliate Link]is a good entry to the Motorola’s Droid Razr lineup and far better than the Clig XT. It is slim and light and a robust step towards the future of Droid Razr franchise. Not imitating any of Apple’s features the device accounts for number of reasons why you should go for Android.

One of the facts that accounts for the success of Android is affordability and Droid Razr M certainly among the cheapest of the smartphones out there. It costs around $149.99 at Verizon with a two year contract and $99 if you for mail-in rebate. As far as design of the device in concerned it is compacted and light weighted and but at the same time it is integrated with large display which makes web browsing, movie watching and mail reading much more of a delightful experience. It manifests what Motorola and Google can do as a whole.

Handset is extremely slim measuring around 8.4mm at its thinnest and at its thickest the device accounts for 1cm, clinging to the old but successful approach by keeping the handset as thin as possible. Integrated irremovable 2000 mAh the device sits pretty comfortably in hand with its 12.2 by 6.1cm dimensions. Scratch resistant Gorilla Glass is provided with 950 x 540 pixel display and to further augment things display has been corroborated with eye popping colors and brightness. Clubbed between rear and front camera providing you video recording at high definition 1080p and also provids you with videoconferencing. On the inside the phone is runs on a 1.5 GHz dual core processor which is supported by RAM of 1GB and a storage capacity of 8GB is given. And out of the box it also holds the NFC support as well, so it has all the things that a high end handset has to offer but comes with price tag of just $149.99.

Droid Razr M [Affiliate Link]runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and does not possess any skins or integrated apps by manufacturers or carriers, which is pretty good because most of the times you do not really want all that stuff but you can remove it either. Battery life of the device is pretty brilliant even on 4G LTE of Verizon the battery lasted for complete one day and a bit more. It is all because of the Motorola’s power conservation system called Smart Action which depends extends battery life and depends on number of situations such as physical location or time of the day. For instance, when it comes to me I have custom set the Smart Action which disables the 4G data after 8 p.m. switches to Wi-Fi which is then turned off after midnight. You can set it according to your own schedule.

Google let your work from home with Task Lists!!

As the day go by we have all have tasks, and that means we have to keep a way to remember them.  Google decided to add that to there Google Mail.  Pcworld said it the right way:

[ad#ad2-left]If keeping Gmail open all the time just wasn’t enough, Google gave us one more reason to stay glued to our computer screens. The Labs Team have released yesterday a new feature for Gmail – Tasks – basically a To-Do list manager. But besides the usual task list bonanza, the new feature can also associate emails with tasks and create multiple to-do lists.

[ad#ad2-right]So how do you get that to work.  Pcworld has a great resource for people to find out how to get it to work.   Just think it gives you one more reason to work from home.   Google actually did something quite nice when it comes to mail.   It can even convert email into tasks.  If you know of any good uses of this little feature leave a comment.

The Next big Wave of Layoffs is Sony. (9,000 workers)

In a report from Engadget, there seems to be more Layoffs going on.   One such one is Sony.  Here is what Engadget said:

[ad#ad2-right]

The bad news from the Japanese consumer electronics industry continues. Sony just announced plans to cut about 8,000 global jobs from its beleaguered electronics business while making unspecified reductions to its seasonal and temporary workforce. The move, as Sony explains it, comes “in response to the sudden and rapid changes in the global economic environment.” Ominously, it looks like Sony will also be raising prices in the countries where “Sony makes significant sales” (read: US and Europe) if we’re reading this statement correctly:

Trojan.PWS.ChromeInject.A is not a Firefox plugin.

A new type of malware designed to harvest web passwords has been detected in-the-wild by BitDefender’s antivirus research labs. This latest e-threat – called Trojan.PWS.ChromeInject.A – is intended to be delivered onto a compromised computer system by other malware for subsequent download into Mozilla Firefox’s Plugin folder. Once installed it gets to work every time Firefox is started.

[ad#ad2-right]So having seen this I thought I’d come up with ways around this to better protect yourself.  One way to prevent this from getting your sensitive data is to get a program like Sandboxie.   You could stop using Firefox that would be silly, because right now Firefox is more secure than Chrome and Internet Explorer.   I’d also suggest checking out my Anti-spyware page and Anti-Virus page and get some more protection.

The key to this virus protection is just be cautious of where you go and keep all you system update to date to prevent all this from happening.  It is also advisable to not have your passwords saved on Firefox, you should use something like Roboform, it is free  to download and try.  It will encrypt your passwords so if they don’t know the master password then they are out of luck.  Roboform is also good for coming up with some strong passwords.  Just some suggestions to prevent from people seeing your sensitive data, you don’t want anyone to get that data.

Viacom and ATT layoff some people. (12,850 People)

Today, we are announcing a company-wide restructuring plan that includes staffing reductions in all divisions. This will result in a reduction of our worldwide workforce of approximately 7 percent, or about 850 positions. We are also suspending salary increases for the Company’s senior level management in 2009. In addition, after a comprehensive review of our operations, we will write down certain programming and other assets. These three actions will bring us significant cost savings and other efficiencies.
