HTC DROID Incredible 4G Android Phone (Verizon Wireless) [Affiliate Link] is really an incredible phone. The smartphone is as small as they come by offers all the things that any high end smartphone has to offer. It is integrated with a fairly high resolution large screen and runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and might get the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update as well. Along with that it also offers high resolution video recording and under the hood it has a dual core processor. But what makes this device really special is the size of it, it has all the features that huge high end smartphones have, including 4G LTE connectivity, in such a compact space. These days smartphones are just getting bigger and bigger and not everyone is attracted towards those highly oversized devices that hardly fit into your hand and pocket. And obviously using these huge smartphones is not that much of a good experience, at least for me, because there are some places where thumb can’t even reach. But at the same time no one wants small screens and to address this problem HTC has come up with a smartphone which is small enough to perfectly fit into your hands and offers high resolution screen which is large enough to give a satisfying experience. The phone was released on 5th of June in United States on Verizon 4G LTE network but its price was cut down recently.

As for design this device has the dimension which measures around 4.82 by 2.40 by 0.46 inches and weighs around 4.66 ounces, almost 132g. Considering the size it offers a large 4.0 inch S-LCS screen which is 15% as big as that of iPhone’s. Made up of Gorilla Glass scratch resistant and glare reduction screen which runs on 540×960 pixels, pretty decent. It offers 9.57 hours of battery life which 20% better than what other 4G smartphones has to offer.

Under the hood of this light weighted device is the Qualcomm MSM8960 Snapdragon microchip set which alongside powered by a dual core 1.2GHz Karit central processor. Not only that, to provide you with hardcore graphics it has a designated Adreno 225 graphics processing chip whose prime function is to support augmented graphics and to keep things smooth it has RAM of 1GB alon gwith internal 8GB of storage capacity which can be increased upto 32GB with the help of microSD slot. It also support video output which can be done with either microUSB slot for wired devices and or with DLNA connectivity for wireless connectivity.

Right out of the box HTC DROID Incredible 4G Android Phone (Verizon Wireless) [Affiliate Link] offers NFC (Near Field Communication) capability which is mostly found in high end devices. Apart from that it also offers access to tons of great apps such as Google Wallet and Android Beam. Sandwiched between cameras, the handset has rear main camera of 8 megapixels and front facing VGA camera. Computer Security : How not to get Infected.

In my [intlink id=”3999″ type=”post”]previous blog post[/intlink] we talked about how the computer would get infected with Malware. Now on this blog post we will discuss how you can prevent most to all of these from ever happening again on your system.

Now let’s face it we are more and more going to be on the internet.   This is almost a necessity for a business or individuals.  You see Businesses have built there product around the internet and that is why it is necessary to be on the internet.

What program not to use to Surf the web

You should consider getting away from Internet Explorer,  I don’t say this lightly.   It may take Microsoft Months to fix a hole in something that involves [intlink id=”2301″ type=”post”]ActiveX or Something like that[/intlink].  We know how Microsoft will only[intlink id=”1951″ type=”post”] push out the really big security holes[/intlink] out of Cycle but keep the minor ones in Cycle.   [intlink id=”2301″ type=”post”]Hackers have jumped on exploits[/intlink] before when it comes Internet Explorer and use them on Black Wednesday, not less than 24 hours after the patches have been released.

Although these examples I showing doesn’t mean that they haven’t been fixed they are showing you how long it takes sometimes to fix them.

What you should use to Surf the web

One of te ways to prevent getting infected is keeping your browser up to date as quickly as possible, and I believe Mozzila Browser which is called FireFox is the answer.   One reason I recommend this to anything else is it is a community based browser and that means there is no waiting for a fix to come out when you know about it they have been working to fix the security hole.

They don’t wait till next month to send out a patch they usually only take a week or two to come up plugging the hole.   So that is why I always recommend to my clients to use FireFox instead of Internet Explorer.

I have 3 Addons that I would recommend along with FireFox, these addons help stop some of the most common ways to exploit your system.   The first one is called NOSCRIPT it is good to prevent scripts from being used on the web or on your system.  The next Addon I would recommend is Bit.ly Preview this is good for any shorten URL that is out there and will show you where it is really going.    It will also work well with Twitter web interface really well and let you know were a url is actually going to easily. Finally the last on I would recommend to my customers is AdBlocker Plus, this one is really good to use for like Facebook or other social sits where there might be a scareware redirect advertisement.  This will prevent some of those Notorious attempts at getting you to click a fake ad.

Also you may want to consider also installing some [intlink id=”2205″ type=”page”]Firewall and Antivirus[/intlink] software to better protect your system from getting a virus in the first place.

Microsoft to Release One Crictical update for Tuesday

Microsoft has release the information for May’s Patch Tuesday and it looks like there is one major update for Power point:

The Affected software is MS Office 2000, MS office Xp, MS Office 2003, Ms Office 2007, Power point viewer, and MS compatibility pack for Word, Excel, and Power point 2007.

[ad]What will be coming out for Tuesday is as Followers for Non-security Releated:

  • Windows PowerShell 1.0 for Windows Vista (KB928439)

  • Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 and .NET Framework 3.5 Family Update (KB951847)

  • Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1 (KB867460)

  • Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool – May 2009 (KB890830)/Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool – May 2009 (KB890830) – Internet Explorer Version

  • Update for Windows Mail Junk E-mail Filter [May 2009] (KB905866)

Although some of this is usual like the Malicious software removal tool, and Windows Junke e-mail filter, we won’t know what else will be released until Tuesday.  Some of the updates will be minor like the Powershell, I am guessing tis will help get ready for SP2, and the SP1 for the .NET framwork also looks to be getting ready for SP2.  So I will keep you updated if i find out what else is released on Tuesday!

Offline Update 5.0, Clone of Autopatcher to Some!!

Offline updater 5.0 has been released a couple months ago and I just realized it now.  This is an excellent tool for IT professionals who want to keep all your Systems up-to-date with the last patches from Microsoft.  The systems it supports are Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2003 x64, And Windows Vista / Server 2008.(32 bit and 64 Bit updates).

[ad#ad2-right]I find this a very useful program for people who have a multitude of problems, from not being able to get on the net to computer virus infections.  This is really good for big businesses that want to update a lot of systems in easy way without having to wait for downloads of updates to install.   You can take a DVD and update on the fly within Mins.   DVD being Cheap or buying them in bulk helps saves time and money for the company.   Less time spent downloading the updates and more time actually getting work done.  As with the Conflicker, Downadup, and to some the Conflickr Trojan, if you got infected with that little worm.  This would help install the updates that it prevented you from doing in the first place.  I also found that once you download do the update the files are kept on the hard drive so you no longer have to redownload them again.  You just update the updates every second Tuesday of the month and it downloads the newest patches and creates a whole new ISO for you to burn.

Q: How can I create the offline update CD images automate, for example via a “scheduled job”?
A: Create a new batch file in the “cmd”, eg “DownloadUpdatesAndCreateISOImage.cmd”. Add the desired calls of

“DownloadUpdates.cmd” and “CreateISOImage.cmd” with the necessary parameters in this new file. The file might for

example have the following contents:

call CreateISOImage WXP eng

Then set a “time-controlled contract” for the new script “DownloadUpdatesAndCreateISOImage.cmd” to your desired

time. For example, after each Microsoft Patchday create new images, select every second Wednesday of the month.

As you can see you can have it do a script and be ready for you in the morning.  You then just take it out of the drive and install where you need to install the day after the updates are issued. On another Note if you have clients who use Windows office Xp, 2000, 2003, 2007 then this will also help:

This is nice if you have clients who use the Microsoft Office Suites also.  Some Malware will often try to infect people’s systems through a office script or some other vector.   So this will also prevent infections or hackers from getting onto the system by updating this also.  You can have this added to each and every DVD ISO you make to include these as you update the patches also.
