Twitter Spammers are getting more smarter

I got an interesting email about someone following me. I went to go check out there profile and Guess what I see:

As you cann se this account only had one post but people seem to be following back due to the picture and the bio. I checked the account about 30 mins later and here I will show you:

[ad#ad2-right]It seems that if people see it has a picture and a bio that doesn’t sound like it is is advertising anything, they will simply follow them back. That really isn’t a good idea. Sooner or later they will start sending out spam to people who are following just because they haven’t been caught. I also checked out the Web site they have new there bio and it leads to http://www.squidoo.com/twittertipstricks. I hope the website knows their link is being used by a spammer. Although this could be a 2 for one deal for having there link also being used for spammer so they can get traffic to there site. I would be worried my ISP doesn’t cut my website due to THE TOS. Although I serious doubt it would happen I do know it could happen. So users are being fooled by spammers, and people aren’t looking hard enough into the account. Users should be warned they shouldn’t just follow back if it looks like it is a person. I know this is a robot and expect it soon to start sending out spam to all those people who are following. I just thought I’d share what I found out. If you clicked on the tinyurl.com it sends you to Partnerwithpaul.com website which talks about making money like all other spam. Just be careful you don’t end up having regrets on following people who are bots.

Podcasters are in up in arms over Ustream.tv

[ad#digg-right]Podcasters and LifeCasters alike are not so happy with Ustream.tv right now. They have started to introduce there own ads overlay to where the lifecaster or podcast involved doesn’t get any revenue. One such Podcast right now is Mike Smith, Host of the Miketechshow Podcast, and Also Todd Cochrane, Host of Geeknewscentral. In a Recent post from Todd, he stated he is going to leave Ustream.tv.

[ad#ad2-right]Mike Smith in his last Podcast talked about this subject and why he is really unhappy with Ustream.tv. He says that the ads could possible violate his TOS with Techpodcast Network. He also would like to share the revenue because he was one of the founding podcasters that started to use Ustream.tv. He’s worried that there will be adult theme ads showing on his video stream and that He wants this to be family friendly. He’s said before the show if he has to he’ll go to other networks. Some of the networks that might help him out:

Ustream.tv

Blogtv

Ustream.tv is the one Mike is having problems with but I tell you this in case someone is looking for streaming media platform. These others I’ve checked out are decent and have there own look and feel. Each one has its own personality and server capabilities. So it will be a test on the next platform that Mike decides on! I provide these to better help people make the right choice and also let people know about Ustream.tv Not telling you about the ads. If you think they shouldn’t be doing this, talk about it and Blog about.

Micrsoft TerraServer, What are they doing today?

Just found this great way to get an aerial view of Los Angeles, Although the photos are old photos they still give you a sense of the area. For example this one:

As you can see you can get a good look around the US. If you want to check out your local area or maybe you know you Latitude and Longitude of where you live. You can also enter that too and see it in the past. It at least brings back memories for me. For example, the Twin Towers, they still have that photo. You could also look at the White House before 9/11 also. Go check out the Micrsoft Terraserver and go have some fun looking at old pictures.

ATT threatens to disconnect subscribers who criticize the company

AT&T has rolled out new Terms of Service for its DSL service that leave plenty of room for interpretation. From our reading of it, in concert with several others, what we see is a ToS that attempts to give AT&T the right to disconnect its own customers who criticize the company on blogs or in other online settings.

I love this Arstechnica talking about how AT&T will loose customers. I think it is a good thing if they do this they will loose everything. I think the more they do this the more they will get people to go to cable or dsl, or even Satellite TV. keep up the good work AT&T.
