I perused the Warntracker and got some of the data to show you just how much this might a be problem coming to all of us.    As of writing this today 3/12/2024, this could become even more people who will be told they are laid off.   The real question is, are you keeping track of your own company that you are working for to help you prevent yourself from getting laid off.   If you are in a big company and you are worried you might be next the best thing I can tell you to do is create alerts for you using Google and have them be sent to you as soon as Google finds out about it.  Google will send that to your email when and how often you tell it to.   As of right now Q1 is almost to the 50,000 employees who have been laid off.

My thoughts

Other than Rio Grand Valley Sugar Growers, All the other ones are probably not normal.   I don’t know about Rio Grand and if they are laying people off due to growing seasons but I do not think this is going to end well for the industry as a whole.  Each one of these are not just tech but are in the Retail, Technology, food, and other areas.  So you can see this will impact a lot of people around the US and the world to be able to find a job.   I’ve talked about finding a job is hard right now, this will make even harder for everyone to do so many people will be looking for work if they don’t get severance pay or some kind of pay.   They will not be able to get unemployment for a while if they are claiming severance and that could cause problems down the road for other workers.  What we will see in the coming months are people working harder for less pay, I am almost sure of that, if something isn’t done and the Fed will probably not cut interest rates right now due to down turn of the economy.  This will be a short blog post but it should show you to at least be watchful of what to come.

The Economic Quagmire: Understanding the Factors Behind the Downturn

New Data Warns Major Layoffs Coming!

More Data Showing the Downturn of the Economy and I’ll be talking about it even more.   I’ve been looking at the data and it doesn’t look good even if the Biden said we have all these jobs for people.  Yet, I am seeing more and more in the the Warn Reports of the coming tsunami of job layoffs.   It looks to be from 4/26/24 to 5/1/24 but I am also seeing some layoffs beginning in June also.  Companies have 30 days to send out the warn reports to the US Government and that could be coming very shortly for some of the companies as soon as the end of this month if they have a deadline to lay people off by the of March or early April.   I’ve already talked about why companies would do this but this just shows more and more that they are going to do this.

Google is even showing this

I hate to bring Google Trends into this but it looks like Google is showing even more signs of people ask questions like Jobs Near Me, Why can’t I get a job, or even Is the Job market bad right now?  It seems to be be fluctuating and making me think there is more to this than Google isn’t being honest about.  I suspect the US government is interfering with the data because they want us to not know the real truth.  I’ve read and saw how they like to not talk the truth in the past and they seem to be doing that again.  Last night it was looking totally different but today this looks like it isn’t even popular.  Looking into this even more, I found one that looks interesting and showing that people are saying the same thing to Google:  “I can’t find a job

I can’t find a job on Google Trends

Job Market isn’t look good.  Even I can see that but I also know it because I’ve had yet to find a job since I was let go in the last few weeks.  In Depth Investigation of the Job Market and How it looks was something that I did to tell people that it is showing you that something is happening in the government and there isn’t the real problem that you are real.   Understanding that you aren’t alone is the first way we can make it through these hard times.   However this isn’t the only way you can do it, if you really are looking for a job.   Should check out my Job Hunting Series to better help you get some more information on how to get a job.

There will be no soft landing

I know that I am seeing more and more that this will most likely be a Crash landing in economics or at the very least a really Hard landing that we will have to get through before everything get’s better.   I don’t believe Biden is in his right mind to think that we don’t see him not being truthful.  I also know that we should be expecting something to happen rather sooner than you might want to consider.   I think we will se this before the Primaries coming up in the US and it will be a signal that you should vote the right way and tell the government that you want it to change.  I don’t think we will get out this very easily and it might even be worse the the 2010 recession but that is just me.

Is the 9 to 5 Work day obsolete or is it still in Demand?

Are you working 9 to 5?

That’s the real question right now for most people, I don’t say that lightly either.   I am seeing more and more Jobs that are either to0 popular or are wanting to only work part time.   This seems to be an ever evolving scenario.  I’ve been looking for jobs the last few weeks and it just seems daunting and that brings even more problems to finding a job.   Usually I don’t get to the interview process or I get to the first phone interview and have yet to get to the video interview where they want to ask even more questions that you can talk about what you know and what you’ve done to show them you have the qualifications to get the job.

GIG Economy

Is that really a thing, working as a freelancer or even someone who is only working for a certain amount of time?  That seems to be where I’m seeing more and more jobs being posted and people applying to those types of jobs and hoping they get some kind of income to help them pay jobs.   I’ve talked about this in previous blog posts but I am really curious as to what people are doing to bring in the money to pay bills and do what is needed to survive.  Is this just going to be more and more people being homeless or people taking any jobs they can to survive and get by with.

Are we 90 days away from a recession?

If interests rates start to show we are going into a recession than we may also show we are also going into a depression.   Even though United Kingdom has already stated they are in a recession and I can only imagine that Germany is going into the recession also.  Are we eating like we are in a depression era?  I am curious about that also are people eating foods that are cheap and trying to get as much out of the food than we used like Mac & cheese dinners and even Beanie Weenies, or even food that can be easily reheated and served multiple times that can help drag out the cost of the food in question.

Getting ahead of the Game

Even if we try to get ahead of this recession in the US it is bound to happen because of all that is going on.  I am sure Biden administration and others in the government are keeping this public due to the coming elections and we will see this continue all the way up and past the election to make it look like we aren’t having issues but I’ve see others say the same thing, that it will happen and we may already be in recession.  I can’t answer that right now but I do feel like I am trying to do what is needed but nothing seems to be happening as to finding a job.   Are you having the same issues as I am?  Finding a job is way harder than it used be the last few years.  Is there anything we can do about it?  Probably not no matter how hard we try or maybe we need to listen to more experts on how to get the job because they obviously know something we don’t know.   it all means the same thing we can’t just wait and see what others are doing to survive.   No matter what we are all here for the same reason to find a job and keep bringing in the money to support our family and ourselves.

The Unemployment is at 3.7% for January(2024)!

Now that isn’t bad for the economy if this was actually true. I know that there are even more people searching for a job than you can imagine. Is the unemployment rate wrong?  I suspect it is way higher than what the US government knows about due to the fact that most of the jobs that people got let go from were less than 6 months contracts or some probably even have money in their account to survive for a while unemployed. I am one of those who have enough money right now to have 3 or 4 months off and not have to worry about anything. I don’t have any major debt and I have no loans out that would be cause for me to have to make payments on those things. So the real question we need to ask is what is correct percentage of people who are unemployed. I think it would be more like 5 to 6% right now if everyone would file for unemployment. I think some worry that if the unemployment rate goes to high then it will cause problems in finding a job even more.

Understanding the Unemployment Rate

It can be quite difficult to figure out what the unemployment rate is actually but I do think we have to at least consider that it’s higher than we thought it is and we may be in a form of recession / Depression scenario.  I saw a video that I’ll share with you and you can see how this might be viable to what is happening now.   I encourage to watch all of it and decide for yourselves if this is even a possibility.  I however know that the ones I have talked to have not filled unemployed for one reason or another.

Now after watching this video, I am sure you have some questions that you might want to ask. One of the obvious questions I came up with myself is this relevant to what is happening now. I would say yes it is due to the fact that I am seeing this more and more the last few weeks with people struggling to keep a job and applying to jobs in general. We aren’t going to get out of this real quickly and I even think we will have more aggressive layoffs in the future just by looking at the spike of layoffs we’ve already had in the January.

chart from layoffs.fyi

Since most companies only worry about Quarterly earnings the next quarter starts in April and as such it would seem that companies will downsize even more either March or April. It would be a good guess that it would be likely in April after the earnings report for each company is looked at and examined by the stock holders and CEO. They will execute a decision to layoff more people to keep the projected earnings reports from impacting their bottom dollar. It will also keep the stock holders happy that they don’t see any layoffs that month before hand. It doesn’t look good to the stock when layoffs happen right when the earnings report becomes available to them.

Unemployed people are just burned out!

The reason why the unemployment numbers a re wrong is that most of those who have been trying to find a job ever since they have been laid off is they are just burned out and are tired of getting those rejection letters and companies that say they are hiring but looks to just be phishing for the right person and not really looking to hire people that could fill the spot they are advertising about.  So that being said, they haven’t even filed for unemployment and that is why you haven’t seen the unemployment rate getting higher and people thinking we aren’t in a recession or even a Depression due to that the Government doesn’t know they are looking for a job.  I know that most of the people want a job but they either pivoted to work where ever they can or created other ways to earn income right now without having to file for unemployment benefits.  I would bet they either took part time jobs or they have other ways to bring in the money to help them survive.

Did you apply for unemployment or did you find ways to bring in income without having to work at an office job for the time?  why not leave a comment and let people know what you’ve done to keep bringing money in so you can let others know how they can earn money even in this trying time.

CBS Confirms the Axe of Layoffs for CNET

CBS throws the gauntlet and says in a statement :

CBS Interactive continues its integration process, which now calls for the further combination of several portions of the division into unified groups oriented around similar content. This important move allows us to better align our premium content for our audiences and our advertisers, and also results in reduction in certain areas that are now duplicated in the new organization structure. We believe these moves are necessary to continue building CBS Interactive into the most creative, most efficient, most profitable and fastest growing Internet company in the media business.”

[ad#ad2-right]Now I can Only guess as to what they will re-organized but if it is anything like Jeff Gerstmann and how we heard people might resign over that little fiasco. I’d give the likely hood of several people from Gamespot and Probably even more people from C-NET. I don’t know who they will lay off but I do know they are going to re-organization. You will probably have to pay for content from them in one way or the other. This is somewhat not un-expected due to the Economic Stress we are currently in and Probably will be for some time.

If I hear what happens I’ll will update my post and all.  If you want to check out the other lay offs in the technology industry please feel free and click here.   I am sure to have more in the coming months.   Time is the only constant and will always be moving forward.
