The Shocking Link Between Rising Unemployment and Fake Job Listings!

Unemployment is on the rise
Unemployment is 4.1%!

Unemployment is on the Rise!

As you can see this is the current unemployment rate from the BLS reports.  If you want to dig deeper, you can but the real concern is that it has jumped from 3.5%( Last June 2023) to 4.1 This year.  That’s a .6% rise in a year and it’s not going down.  Unemployment is going up and if we look at the unemployment rates from 2006 you can see once it started to rise, it went fast upward.   This seems to be the something that will happen again.   We might not get up to 10% but we will get past the 6% to 7% rate and it might even stay there for some time.  I’d say maybe a 1 or two years.  The Feds might have to do something soon to prevent this from going higher than that this year by introducing rate cuts in the coming months.

Fake Jobs and Scams are on the Rise!

Ghost Jobs, and Fake Jobs are being posted on every job board around just to bolster the companies moral and keep employees happy.  I’m even seeing more job scams getting into my email box and I even documented some of the ones that I have seen in the past few weeks.  Here’s a small list of them:

I’ve talked about some of these are more in the past and I’m really concerned with where the job market is right now and what companies are doing to the job seekers and potential new employees.  Is it morally right to go through the process of interviewing candidates if they aren’t going to hire you and is it even right to put up those jobs if you aren’t really hiring.   I’d says it is but I am sure others would disagree with me.  I understand the concept.

Job Interviews

I’ve got a job interview with a company in the next two weeks and they have reposted the job on Linked-in.   That seems more than smells of something rotten but I will patiently wait and see what they do when I go through the interview.   I am dubious that they aren’t going to hire me but I have to make an effort to do that.  Another company which is local is interviewing me and wants me to come back in for an “IT Support Analyst” position, which I don’t understand but I will go and do the interview with someone else for one reason or another.   Is the job market so bad that companies are being ultra picky on who they will hire and who they want to join their team?  I would say most likely yes and it’s really one of those things we will have to see in the coming months.   The pendulum has swung to the employers side and we are just going to go through the motions of trying to find a job and go through more excessive interviews to get that one job we are looking for to being able to survive the impending recession, which we may already be in.

Have you had any fake job stories you want to talk about, why not leave a comment and tell us your story.  I’d love to hear your experiences on the subject matter and maybe it will help others avoid the same mistakes.

Layoffs in Silence: How Companies Are Downsizing Without Public Scrutiny

Frustrated Employee Dealing with Work Issues

The Rise of Quiet Layoffs in 2024!

Companies are laying people off without news of some of this.   The Job market seems to be going through some of the hardest times the last few months.    As of this post I’ve been unemployed for several months and have yet to find another IT job after putting out over a 150 applications.   The real problem is that the Government is saying we have all these jobs available but I have yet to see these jobs that are so common.  This process is so the company can downsize their workforce in a discreet manner to avoid any Public Relations negative press.

The Ethical implication of Quiet Layoffs

The uncertainty of quiet layoffs are creating an atmosphere of fear and mistrust among any company that does this.   It makes the employees undervalued and even anxious about their job security which can also make it harder to get more people to trust what will happen next.     The idea that you can apply for any of these jobs is also at question because we really don’t know if they are hiring or just looking like they are hiring.   Companies will show they are hiring to keep the employees thinking they will have help soon or they may do this if they have contracts with other companies to look like they are trying to find someone and say they can’t find them.    All these are valid ways that companies are being unethical.   There ae note northing ideas that this can be debatable and can even argue the necessity of tough economic times while others can see this as an unfair practices.   Companies need to consider the long-term impact of these practices on their brand and employee relations.

Silent Hiring and Quiet Layoffs

Companies are taking way longer to interview or even get back telling you that you weren’t selected for one reason or another.    Companies are making it harder to get hired by having applicants jump through so many hoops or interviews.  It seems to be the one way to get applicants not to complete the process and they can claim they didn’t find someone to fill the job.   It is also entirely way to prevent from having to pay anyone and still look like you are hiring people for employees and clients of yours.   This makes it seem like nothing is wrong but in reality it is a problem and the dynamics of transparent communication can make it even more difficult at times.   It however isn’t going to go away anytime soon until enough people start speaking up about this and reporting these types of layoffs.   Remember to keep your resume up to date right now and know you aren’t alone in finding a job in this tough job market.   The searching for a job has been the hardest thing to do in the last few months.    I’ve heard some people needed to apply to over a 900 applications just to get hired to a job.

The Economic Quagmire: Understanding the Factors Behind the Downturn

New Data Warns Major Layoffs Coming!

More Data Showing the Downturn of the Economy and I’ll be talking about it even more.   I’ve been looking at the data and it doesn’t look good even if the Biden said we have all these jobs for people.  Yet, I am seeing more and more in the the Warn Reports of the coming tsunami of job layoffs.   It looks to be from 4/26/24 to 5/1/24 but I am also seeing some layoffs beginning in June also.  Companies have 30 days to send out the warn reports to the US Government and that could be coming very shortly for some of the companies as soon as the end of this month if they have a deadline to lay people off by the of March or early April.   I’ve already talked about why companies would do this but this just shows more and more that they are going to do this.

Google is even showing this

I hate to bring Google Trends into this but it looks like Google is showing even more signs of people ask questions like Jobs Near Me, Why can’t I get a job, or even Is the Job market bad right now?  It seems to be be fluctuating and making me think there is more to this than Google isn’t being honest about.  I suspect the US government is interfering with the data because they want us to not know the real truth.  I’ve read and saw how they like to not talk the truth in the past and they seem to be doing that again.  Last night it was looking totally different but today this looks like it isn’t even popular.  Looking into this even more, I found one that looks interesting and showing that people are saying the same thing to Google:  “I can’t find a job

I can’t find a job on Google Trends

Job Market isn’t look good.  Even I can see that but I also know it because I’ve had yet to find a job since I was let go in the last few weeks.  In Depth Investigation of the Job Market and How it looks was something that I did to tell people that it is showing you that something is happening in the government and there isn’t the real problem that you are real.   Understanding that you aren’t alone is the first way we can make it through these hard times.   However this isn’t the only way you can do it, if you really are looking for a job.   Should check out my Job Hunting Series to better help you get some more information on how to get a job.

There will be no soft landing

I know that I am seeing more and more that this will most likely be a Crash landing in economics or at the very least a really Hard landing that we will have to get through before everything get’s better.   I don’t believe Biden is in his right mind to think that we don’t see him not being truthful.  I also know that we should be expecting something to happen rather sooner than you might want to consider.   I think we will se this before the Primaries coming up in the US and it will be a signal that you should vote the right way and tell the government that you want it to change.  I don’t think we will get out this very easily and it might even be worse the the 2010 recession but that is just me.

Why is Finding a Job in the US Really Hard?

I don’t say this lightly because I’ve come across so many people talking about this that isn’t even funny. Most of these people are just trying to find a job and it seems that they aren’t even able to land any real interviews. I’ve had that same problem as of late, no one wants to interview they just go to another qualified applicant and either Ghost me or tell me that I wasn’t selected for the interview.

I’ve personally been dealing with the Stress of looking for a job for over 2 weeks. It can be quite hard not to worry and think about what may come but this is just another example of what it is like to find a job in the year 2024. Even if the US Government says we have all these Jobs that were created, I seriously doubt this is going to help those who have been laid off and the one that may be lay off in the future.

Why Can’t People find a job?

Why Can’t I find a job – Google Trends

More and More people are asking the same thing. “Why can’t I find a Job?” on Google. That seems more than plausible, if the US economy was so robust and we had all these jobs than it should be easy for everyone who was laid off to find a new job. It however isn’t that way and I hate to say it doesn’t look promising for the future. As I have been doing my research more and more people are having the same issues as I am and if people are not finding jobs and they have more qualifications than me then It just can’t be how I am applying and that I am applying. It has to be deeper than that and I believe it is.

Even now it isn’t clear on what people should do, because more and more people are asking the same thing.  Even more “experts” try to give advice.   I put quotations around the word to make sure you know that I don’t know if they are right or wrong or if they are actually experts or just people who know how to get a job easier.

I’m not here to tell you who I believe is or isn’t a expert in this field but to at least tell you that even if you do some of the things these people tell you to do to get a job may or may not work in your situation.   I’m going to at least talk about what I am doing to try to get a job that may help you in your job search.

My Job Search Activities

What I am about to tell you is what I’ve been going through trying to do to hunt for a  Job.  However, This doesn’t that this is how you should do it but it is something to consider while you are looking for a job.

  • Setup Email Alerts on Job openings — This can be quite helpful.  I’ve done this for sites like Indeed, Monster, Linkedin, Google, and even Bing to find new jobs around me that I can apply for it and it helps to keep me from spending to much time each day to look for jobs.   Each of these are easy to do and you can have each site email you daily or when there is a new job that pops up that you are looking for.
  •  Spend a Maximum of 2 or 3 hours and No more looking for Jobs —  I say this because I’ve heard people say they were looking for job as if they have a job Full time and that can’t be good or healthy to the individual.   There is no way you can find jobs and apply to them all day.  You should spend only a limited amount of time finding jobs.  That is the best approach.
  • Get Resume Help — This can be quite easy for some of you but others might need to search their  local community to see if you can get someone to help you write your resume even better.   It never hurts to get someone to check it out and give you some advice on how to get the employer to see your resume.
  • Apply for Jobs that you have excellent Soft Skills for —  This is something that seems to be overlooked but you should always apply to jobs that match your soft skills even more.  This will get employers more interested in your application.  If you can show them you have the soft skills they are searching for they may want to get an interview with you.
  • Don’t be afraid to ask for help with Friends And Family — This can be really helpful to be able to talk to your friends and family.  It can help with your stress also but they may know of jobs that may be able to get your foot in the door.  It’s what they call networking which has helped me in the past and this is something I am constantly doing now but still haven’t gotten past the interview stage.

As you can see these are just a few tips that I can give you to better keep you in the know of new jobs and how to deal with the rejections you may get.   I’ve seen more and more of those rejections come my way but with all this it helps to keep me from getting depressed and discouraged.   You should consider how you can better help yourself from getting that way too.
