Fighting an endless battle!

Having been perusing my email inbox the last few days.  I’ve noticed that Gmail hasn’t been catching all the spam.  So I’ve deciding to write an How to fight spam the hard way.   Why write about something people know all about spam. It is the fact that we have come to be complacent and ignore the spam that comes from our inbox.

[ad]To think if we allow this spam to keep coming our way.  So I’ve figured I show you how to fight back with spam.  It won’t be an easy process but if you follow these few steps you too could get what you need done and make a wold difference with fighting spam.  Some people will say it can’t be done.  I’ve done it i n the past and I do it now.  So let’s start:

SamSpade.org is the first part of this epic adventure.  I say it’s the easiest part because it doesn’t take a lot of know how to find out the information you need. So let’s start with you get a spam message in your inbox and you want to report this spam to the proper people and make it harder for the spammers to get away with this.

[ad]

You would want to look for any domains in the email message such as a (dot)gov, (dot)com, (dot)us, ETC and do a look up with SamSpade.org and find out who to email.  It’s going to be one of the following:

  • Admin@(domain)
  • Postmaster@(domain)
  • abuse@(domain)

There are always going to be more, but you get the picture.  You then forward the message to either one or all of them and tell them in the email why you are emailing them.  I usually say something with TOS(Terms of Service).  That way you sound a little more forceful.  If you want to cut down on spam.  I dare you to report one peace of spam a day.  I can pretty much bet.  You will drop in spam in under a week.  On an upcoming article I will discuss why you would report spam.

Preventing the Unthinkable!

Imagine yourself having been using Gmail and you go on lunch.  When you get back you try to log into your Gmail account, and it is locked?  Yesterday Chris Brogan His friend and colleague came back after lunch and his Gmail account was locked out.  So I want to talk about some ways to prevent the Unthinkable!

Yes, you too, could be locked out of your Gmail account and have no way to access your web services like friendfeed or other services like that. Unless you have your passwords stored someplace either in Firefox or IE.  That is so unsafe, letting Firefox or IE remember you passwords, check out one of my previous post about that!!  If you are locked out of your Gmail account and you don’t remember the password.  What next?  Here is what I do.

I use Roboform and back that up nightly to an Amazon E3 Server.  I also make copies to a local spare Hard drive. Roboform comes with the best Syncing software and also a very powerful password generator. It encrypts your passwords until you enter your master password.

I was reading Todd Cochranes Article about this. I wanted to make a point on having your password safe and secure and easily accessible!! Todd Cohcrane is right about having a backup plan. I have always said in the past, backing up is very important.  Having a local application do your mission critical stuff is important.  So check out his article and check out Roboform.

Some Movies that might be coming to HULU!

So I’ve been thinking what other movies might be coming to Hulu.  So I am doing a little digging and found some cool ideas.   Here is what I think may be coming to Hulu down the road:

[ad]

  1. The Chronicles of Riddick: Dark Fury (Universal)
  2. The Fast and The Furious (Universal)
  3. Men In Black 2 (Sony)
  4. I, Robot (20th Century Fox)
  5. How the Grinch Stole Christmas (Universal)
  6. Bruce Almighty (Universal)
  7. Evan Almighty (Universal)
  8. Die Hard (20th Century)
  9. Die Hard with a Vengeance (20th Century)
  10. Die Hard 2 (20th Century)
  11. Charlies Angels: Full Throttle (Sony)

Although this is just like a wishful list, I did do a little research and found these movies. I am  guessing that most of these will sooner or later come to HULU.   I’ve got my reasons why these will be coming.  For one, I think some of the ones I’ve selected will be coming this winter, like The Grinch.  That would be for Christmas and Thanksgiving Premier.  I know what the editors like and they like several people.  They like several actors and they are Bruce Willis, Will Smith, Vin Diesel, and Steve Carell.

A Blogger Has Dreams

Those who knows someone who has a blog, also knows what the dream of a blogger is. On this case I will go into 5 areas where most bloggers should improve on. Although these aren’t going to be major, you to can create a good blog and encourage users to come back to you all the time. Having dreams isn’t a bad thought or a bad wish. Sometimes having been blogging the way I have been. I see the challenges of coming up with content for the blog. I’ve figured out some important points in making content and full filling the dreams that you have.

Sometimes, I think, bloggers get the bad wrap. They are considered undesirables to the big magazines and the popular medias. You see, in the mind of the big companies, they don’t understand the small guy and how they impact the big companies. A bloggers dream is to impact there inspiration to write something with content.

  1. Content is the Key – Having seen content grow my blog from nothing to something means a lot. It means having content draws people to the small guy. You see not all the Honey comes from the big guys, but by the small guys. You will need to figure out where you want to go with your content. Understand this, content alone will not draw people to your blog and keep them.
  2. Create Loyalty – Unlike content, if you don’t have loyal readers, you do not reach others with your ideas and understanding. Finding out how to make readers become loyal to your content has to be frustrating to some but I found it rather easy. You have to come up with Loyalty by giving people the chance to comment and creating a way for people to discuss there believes. Having loyal readers isn’t all that is cracked up to be, you do from time to time have the reader who wants to protest or complain. That is normal, because you will never have what that one reader wants, and sooner or later you will replace that one with someone who enjoys reading your content.[ad]
  3. Bloggers want Advertising – Not just bloggers but podcasts want advertisement because it offsets the cost of buy web space and the effort of making content. Some would say it makes people run from your blog. I say different because having a dream is having people click your ads to support their blogs. Bloggers want you to make there dream your dream.
  4. Plan for the Future –Having an idea of how the future will effect your count and content.  Gives you a better edge for the future and a understanding of the past will better help you get the most out of your blogging experience.

Although this isn’t all or even 10% of the whole picture for blogging.  You have to work through the fine details of getting people to come to your site.  It will however start you off in the right direction.  Finding inspiration is sometimes the hardest part of blogging because there are times when writing isn’t easy.  In another post of mine in the future I’ll talk about how hard it is sometimes to come up with content.
