Star Trek: Into the Darkness is better the awesome! (Redone)

Got off from work!

I really wasn’t sure if I would be able to get into seeing this movie. I’d thought this would be packed and no available tickets. I was surprised to see how sparse it was at the theatre. I admit I went right before the 5 o’clock rush hour. I really thought it would be a line of people waiting to get into the movies. I was disappointed about that particular dream. I wanted to think this movie was going to draw people in like Star Wars did in the 1980’s and 1990’s. It was only a dream, I guess.

May contain Spoilers!

I won’t say this will be a total spoil free review or even a try to prevent this. It is after all going to spill out because I can’t really make points without talking about the movie. So if you feel you can’t take the spoilers. You best bet is to go to another email. I am sorry but that is just me!

From Iron Man to Star Trek

When I first started talking about Iron Man 3, I got a lot of activity from people who wanted to know about Science Fiction. I did know I wanted to go see the movies and thought this email group would be good for that. So I thought about it and wanted to make it a possibility. Well you are looking at it now!

Physics and Enterprise

Upon starting off on this movie, their is some great scenery of a people we have yet to encounter in this great Star Trek universe. That being beside the point we also see Enterprise under water with pounds of pressure on the ship. I really can’t say if this is possible, but if we really did the math on this. You would be saying “Hmm” too. I am sure the ship wouldn’t be able to survive. If I remember right Gizmodo did something similar to with Kirk surviving jumping out of a moving motor vehicle. I fancy myself as being logical so this kind of thing did strike me rather peculiar that they thought this was a possibility. Role

Reversal Roles

If you haven’t seen the movies or the shows then you might not get how some of the roles that happen in this movie were completely reversed. I won’t say the names but I actually loved the concept of this. We do however get to see a small glimpse of Leonard Nimoy but it wasn’t like he was their the whole movie. Just a scene or two with the other Spock. We also get to see a glimpse of how the Chain of Command is supposed to work and why it is a necessary evil to some and others it is just necessary. I honestly believe this movie had some great examples of this throughout. We get to see Kirk saving Spock, and Spock saving Kirk, a rather symbiotic relationship. Not knowing who will actually save the day. Kept me on the edge of my seat all through the movie.

Enterprise NCC-1701

The Enterprise is a beautiful ship. I love how J. J. Abrams did the ship and a lot of the CGI that came along with it. You almost wish this was the ship we saw in the old series. You long for the day that we go back to where everything began. I must say the time paradox has resolved itself nicely. It isn’t as pronounced as it was in the first movie but you still get the feeling something isn’t quite right.

Final Thoughts

I will recommend this to anyone who likes Star Trek and Science Fiction. If you liked the first movie, you will definitely like the this movie. I do hope I didn’t spoil it for anyone. It was just some total good and nice that I will be buying this when it comes out on DVD or maybe the just the Digital version. If you know someone who might like this movie just let them read this themselves and maybe helped someone find the pleasure of Science Fiction.

Why I joined Starfleet-command and How you can too!

The History Of Starfleet Command!

October, 1974 Starfleet Command, an international Star Trek fan club is founded in Lufkin, Texas USA.
Starfleet Command (SFC) is at the forefront of Star Trek organizations dedicated to space exploration. A fan club where friends come together to share their love of science fiction, science fact, and for some a chance to dream of being a part of the Star Trek universe.  [Via Website]

Star Trek and Me!

Growing up, you really only had a few good shows.   It wasn’t until Star Trek became syndicated that it grew in popularity and thus that is when I was became aware of Science Fiction.   It wasn’t something that I liked to talk about in Middle school or even High school but then I found so much more after I got out of High School.
After High school, I started watching Doctor Who, Stargate, Star Trek, and Babylon 5.  Although these are just the pick of the shows that I like to go back and watch.   It hasn’t been hard to find other Science Fiction Shows that I like to watch also!

Then I found Starfleet Command!

When I joined Starfleet in early 2000, it wasn’t something I thought I would keep doing but I did want to check it out and see what this club was all about.   Then I met a really dear and kind friend Paul Sundstrom, who was so pleasant to anyone and everyone in the fleet.   I couldn’t do anything else but to look up to the man and be amazed at how this club go be so non-judgemental about color, or even your background.   Without Paul’s help in understanding the fundelmentals of what Starfleet was about, I probably wouldn’t of stayed a member.   It was his influence in my life that made me dream about being a blogger and also wanting to help others.   It wasn’t until a few years later that he lost his life due to something that was personal to all who knew him.   God rest his soul, and I am proud to call him a friend.  He was with the Uss Halsey and I will always remember him and work hard at being like him.
I joined because I simply wanted to find others who also like Science Fiction and be part of a bigger picture.
It wasn’t supposed to be this FUN, you’d think it would be boring and no one to talk to but you’d be wrong.   I’ve worked hard and enjoyed it all the way.   I never will regret my decision to stay with Starfleet Command and help them out as a Deputy Chief of Information Technology.   That however has recently changed from being the Deputy to actually being the Head of the department.

How you can Join?

If you want to be part of something bigger and better than you can imagine then it is time to think about Joining Starfleet Command.   Maybe you want to make your own ship or even join one of the many Ships that are out there.   You don’t have to be alone, it can be something fun or interesting.   What ever you decide you aren’t alone.   You have me, and I’ll be more than glad to help you and talk to you.   If you have a question, I’m here for you.   If you want help, I’m here.   I want you to be part of this group and make history in more ways than one.   Be apart of the excitement and make a difference in someone’s life by joining!

My thoughts:

I simply love Science Fiction movies, and Star Trek. Although you can buy the Seagate Ultra Portable Hard drive and have this come with the movie on it!! I have been watching this movie every so often and I can say without a doubt, I have had a great movie experience. I would recommend this movie to anyone who grew up with Roddenberry’s dream.

My Rating: 4.5/5

Family Friendlyness: 2.5/5

My Favorite Quote:
Leonard ‘Bones’ McCoy: I may throw up on you.
James T. Kirk: I think these things are pretty safe.
Leonard ‘Bones’ McCoy: Don’t pander to me, kid. One tiny crack in the hull and our blood boils in thirteen seconds. Solar flare might crop up, cook us in our seats. And wait till you’re sitting pretty with a case of Andorian shingles, see if you’re so relaxed when your eyeballs are bleeding. Space is disease and danger wrapped in darkness and silence.
James T. Kirk: Well, I hate to break this to you, but Starfleet operates in space.
Leonard ‘Bones’ McCoy: Yeah. Well, I got nowhere else to go, the ex-wife took the whole damn planet in the divorce. All I got left is my bones.

Star Trek Movie Experience — My Review

I had the chance to go see it Thursday and would like to talk aobut it:

*Spoiler Alert*

We start out with what I will call a Grandfather parodox, Kirk is born in a shuttle craft because the ship was being emergency Evacuation due to battle damage. Anyways Kirk dad is dead and this is where the Paradox comes into play, later in the movie you will hear “Older Spoker” tell Kirk about his dad. Listen hard and you will see where the paradox event comes into play.

[ad]Anyways this is the premise of the story, Time travel. We get to see how events unfold from the rebirth of Vulcan to the Kobayashi Maru, and How Kirk Handled the actual situation. We also see Physics come into play with Young Kirk jumping from a moving car and surviving. This however quite improbable but some would argue very impossible, see the link for more understanding.

Anyways the action was really good and I actually enjoyed the action pack adventure of James T. Kirk. I actually liked the comical word play going on with McCoy and Spock, and the also with Kirk. We must not forget about Scotty, His character was not seen until middle of the movie but his lines were spot on. We also must remember Uhura, Checkov, and Sulu who also make the movie more lighthearted and keeps the idea of the Origional characters upbringing really well. All in all, Gene Rodenberry dream has been quite well played out in this move because of the way the Director did produce the movie.

Other than some Minor scenes that are not suitable for kids under 12, everything else is an action pack adventure and when you leave the movie you will have a greater appreciation of Star Trek. I would say to anyone who has wanted to learn more about Star Trek to go see this movie, you will find out more about Vulcans, Romulans, and the back story of Kirk and the Crew. I give it an easy 5 stars review and encourage everyone to go see this. movie who is into Science Fiction.
