Do you have the Obama Worm?

So I sit here reading about the Obama Worm from PcWorld. Asking myself what type of worm this is? Here’s what I do know, it isn’t a malicious intent but it does look like it is something someone thought of this to test out their skills and to make people laugh. This however isn’t a well made worm, it seems to slow down systems after awhile and prevents loading up of programs. The Odds of you getting this worm is like Dieing in an Airplane or Very slim according to some researchers.

[ad#ad2-left]It seems to be spreading through USB and therefore should prevent this by disabling Autorun features in your machine, also you should limit the use of external storage devices whenever possible to help prevent infection.  Although currently it seems that the worm isn’t detected by any anti-virus software t right now.  There is a screen capture of the Obama Worm in case anyone wanted to see what it looks like.

The Back story is this started at school, and It looks to be only visible on Monday’s.  So if you find yourself seeing the face of Obama on the right hand corner of your screen. That is the only way to find out if you have the Obama Worm.   If you want to find out,if you have the worm, the easiest and quickest way is to change the time on your Windows systems to the following Monday and reboot.  IF after you reboot, and you see the head then you will know you are infected or at least that is my theory on discovering it, haven’t had a system with the Obama Worm yet but expect it to be really simple to find out.

Right now, Most of the Anti-virus companies are trying to figure out how to detect it and remove it so it will of course be a little while.  The best advice I can give you is to make sure you systems are fully patched to help protect the systems from Malware infestations.

Cricket Wireless Broadband Card — How to get better speed!

After buying the card last month,  I did a quick review about the broadband card. I wanted to talk about the speed problems that I had when I first used the modem.  Here is how to possibly getting better speeds when you use your card.   First off, you will need to disconnect from the internet and go to your quicklink mobile application:

You will click on “Tools”  and then hit ‘Activation’.   If you have it fail on your the first time you should reboot your system then try to do the activation after reboot that should fix the activation problem.
newspeedtestAs you can see after I did the activation of the modem, my speed went way up from the last review.  I thought I should talk about how you could possibly fix this.  I called tech support over this to get a better speed.

This is where I learned about the activation.  If you move or go to another City or travel to far, you will need to tell the modem that there is a new tower closer to you.   It seemed to of really boosted my performance when I go to places on the internet.   So if you come up with some cool tips or tricks to help others by all means leave a comment. After this problem is fixed and the speed seems to be coming more and more, I’d like to recommend everyone who reads this article to go buy the A600. It is really a fast little modem and more reliable to boot. My other review was incomplete because of the speed problems I had but now it is fixed and I am really happy!!!

AVG Detected a False Positive

[ad#ad2-left]According to Security and The Net:

An update for the AVG virus scanner released yesterday contained an incorrect virus signature, which led it to think user32.dll contained the Trojan Horses PSW.Banker4.APSA or Generic9TBN. AVG then recommended deleting this file; this causes the affected systems to either stop booting or go into a continuous reboot cycle. So far, the problem only appears to affect Windows XP, but there is no guarantee that other versions of Windows don’t have the same issue.

[ad#ad2-right]I bring this up because this is a false positive according to AVG. AVG since sent out another update to there Database and you can go and update the database to get rid of this problem. If you need to restore that DLL check out the article Security and The Net, they got some excellent suggestions on fixing the problem.

If you’ve not been affected by this yet, you probably won’t be. It is yet unknown how many people have been affected. I’m blogging about this to tell people about this and to warn people that not all of warnings from AVG are true and that is why you should always ask before you delete or do anything to your system. I always USE google when it comes to these types of questions
