Roku looking good, Now for some Independents!!

I have in the past talk about Roku and Hulu.   Since We are starting to see Hulu Plus channel in the line up, I wanted to talk about how studio’s are wasting their money by not going to the Roku!!

Studio’s don’t know the potential!

Now I am not saying that studio’s aren’t making but they are at least loosing some great potential cross show advertising.    If let’s say Discovery Channel would come to Roku, they could easily add advertising for other shows that you might want to watch from their channel.  After all, they do have shows like Mythbusters and Dirty Jobs that could easily cross advertise each other.    I simply love Mythbusters and have already subscribed to season 9 of it, so you can see that no matter how they do it they would still be making money.

Then you could also consider cross advertising from studio, if more studio’s would come on board then that would be a great way to bring in more viewers.  Although most studios will argue about revenue and I totally understand that, they could easily just go back to the television standard advertising but I think most want to be able to know what sells and what doesn’t.

Advertisers need to get aboard fast!

Since Hulu is definitely coming to Roku, we have to ask what advertisers to do? Will they come to the Roku??  I would say they will go where the shows go.   That being said some of them might even flock or run to Hulu as soon as they realize how many people are actually watching Netflix in the US alone!  That being said, I fully expect Roku to be in every home in 10 years.  Although that is just a really good guess, I would imagine most people will agree that if Roku keeps adding content it will be more of a demand!!

We will see more independents studios come aboard!

Studios like Syfy Channel, Discovery Channel, Disney Channel, and channels like TNT, HBO, and Nickelodeon will flock to the Roku or even pay Hulu to be part of the Hulu plus.  Now I don’t expect them to be on board any time soon, I think once Hulu becomes widely used on the Roku that these other small studio’s and channels will see the benefit of streaming their media to the Roku box.   Most of these sites already have a way for you to watch them on their own site in one form or another with advertising!  If Google TV doesn’t worry these studio’s and channels then I would expect them to jump aboard soon!

Do you think it is inevitable for these license holders to not Come to the Roku?   I’d love to hear what you think!

Online Episodes helps Adware Installer Zango

I was surfing the web hoping that Mythbusters would start putting there episodes online and I the first link that I get a website that looks like this:

This site even has the Theme music playing as if it was affiliated with Discovery Channel’s Mythbusters show.   If you look at the screen shot above you will see who someone has been keeping this site updated with the most current episodes of Mythbusters.   So I check out The Season 7 Episode 1 – Demolition Derby Special and I was curious as to what would happened if I clicked that link, and this screen pops up:

So I have to install this Zango Software to view this show?  So I find out go doing my research about Zango and Wikipedia says:
Zango, formerly ePIPO, 180solutions and Hotbar, produces software that provides access to partners’ games and DRM-restricted videos and software. Zango software is listed as adware by Symantec.[1] McAfee states, “this program may have legitimate uses”, but describes it as a “potentially unwanted program”, and an “adware downloader”

I didn’t like the sound of this but I wanted to see what my AVG would say when I downloaded this software, and it pops up with:

[ad#cricket-right-ez]Windows Defender comes back with Win32/Zangosearchassistant warning,  and thus I go around checking out this adware out around Google and I am seeing reports after reports on asking how to get rid of this Adware.  Some of the ones that I think would help people get rid of this program is:

If you haven’t installed [intlink id=”2205″ type=”page”]anti-virus or Firewalls[/intlink] this would be the first thing to do.   I’ve also read some reports about Zango that are quite disturbing like these:

Although these are just a few examples of what I found out just Googling Zango, I thought I would share these with you.  There are more examples like Zango’s Facebook Widget that I will say acts like adware and encourages you to send to 5 different users.  Although Facebook as Stopped this widget, we all know that Spyware and Malware is being used on social networks and will be undoubtedly be more and more in the future.   Remember you’re the only one to prevent having a virus.

A side not, if you did  try to install this software you would need to be and Administrator and that also concerns me because the type of stuff they are claiming in the EULA is Browsers stuff which shouldn’t need Administrator rights or at least I am not going to give Adware that right.   Zango is being Classified as Adware and I am only reporting that the software is being clasfied as Adware, but Zango claims it not.   This is where the End Users decide if it is or not, I however think it is!! I am also sure there are other sites like this that are trying to get you to install this software to view movies, and shows. Your best bet is to not install the software and go to Hulu or Fancast to find safe movies and shows.

Youtube gets ready to Launch “LIVE Event!!” 5pm PST/8pm EST

As the time approaches for the live even for Youtube. There are many confirmed and only one I want to see right now. As many people will agree that Mythbusters is the best show on Discovery Channel. They have been confirmed to be there tomorrow.

They are getting ready!!!

Some of the major players confirmed to be there are Mythbusters, Soulja Boy Tell’em, Katy Perry, Esmee Denters, Akon, FRED, and Will. I. Am.   Now I don’t know all these stars.   I do Know Mythbusters and I’ve heard of FRED.   I’m just stating who is going to be there.

[ad#ad2-left]Then the Obvious question comes to my mind and I am sure this is being asked by everyone right now.  Is Mythbusters shows coming to Youtube?  I would say from what all is going on with Youtube, they might become a competitor to Hulu.  With them adding High Defination Viewing and allowing bigger video to be uploaded. There is no question that Youtube and Google is getting ready to release a major statement, or change there direction.   So be ready tomorrow at 8 PM EST/5 PM PST and let’s see what happens.

After a nuclear holocaust, would cockroaches really be the last creatures standing?

That’s a question for the same people who’ve tested whether you can jump in a falling elevator to save yourself, whether throwing a toaster into a bathtub really will electrocute someone and whether dropping a penny from a skyscraper is lethal.

A team from the Discovery Channel’s Mythbusters is at the Hanford nuclear reservation this week to get to the bottom of the nuclear survival myth.

“It’s been on the original list of myths since day one,” said Kari Byron, one of the Mythbuster stars, who came to town with Grant Imahara and Tory Belleci.


I actually like the show so I thought others would also. It’s truly Myths being busted!! I know this is going to be an interesting show episode when it comes out.
