Rumor is that Itunes will Remove DRM!

[ad#ad2-right]A report from last week brought to AppleInsider‘s attention by French technology site ElectronLibre asserts that it’s now “clear” Apple will spark new interest in its music store by removing DRM from tracks published by Sony, Universal and Warner on December 9th.

Although, this is somewhat unlikely I’ve got my own theories on this.  You see If Apple did this tomorrow that would be a BIG deal, due to the fact that Microsoft will be releasing there patches on the same day.  I find it would be a momentous occasion.

[ad#ad2-left]I can only guess why and the guess is just a guess.  If Itune’s did remove there DRM the same time as Microsoft Patch Tuesday, I’d have to guess they will co-inside because of the difficulty of using the DRM, Digital Rights Management, on other products.  For example, Windows Media Player .  If Apple decided to approach Microsoft and come up with a way to make sure all DRM is stripped this would be the ideal situation.   Although this is highly unlikely, I’d have to think Apple wouldn’t wait till tomorrow to strip the DRM.  They know Microsoft schedule.  We will have to find out in the coming days.

Is Hulu encouraging people to watch shows illegally?

Hulu Walkthrough

I’ve been scouring Hulu for the last few days and come up with some interesting observation.   I wanted to talk about Hulu’s commitment to its users.   I don’t say that lightly but just recently the distributors and the copyright holders only have been putting up a few episodes here and there on old shows like:

Some of the comments I’ve seen have been talking about watching the rest of the shows from other sources:

Now let’s start off saying that it really isn’t Hulu’s fault, because they can only make available what the publishers says are available for the public.   Some of this suggest to me that the publishers are trying to make us go buy the DVD’s.  Hasn’t it been said that DVD sales are dead?   So why are the publishers doing this, they want the money and what they want usually happens unless we stand back and take a stand.    I am encouraging everyone to write Hulu and Tell them what you think.   I would like to see these shows come more quickly and be more available.   If not what other choices do the people have?

So here are a few links to better help you understand Hulu’s rights and why they do what they do sometimes:

Having trouble with I-tunes Here is way to fix the problem:

I’ve been having problem with I-Tunes lately and I wanted to talk about how to fix the problem that come along with using it.

Err = 8008 [A corrupt file that can’t be completed due to some kind of glitch in downloading the file. It can happen to anyone at anytime.]

[ad]

To Fix the problem here are the steps you must do:

  • Go to the I-tunes Music Directory – C:\USERS\[USERNAME]\MUSIC\ITUNES\ITUNES MUSIC\DOWNLOADS

  • Look for the corrupt files, depending on the problem you can expect to see two or three directories. Find the one directory that has the corrupt file and delete the whole directory.

  • Once that is done load up I-tunes and go to the Store Tab and Check for Purchases.

  • This will get I-tunes to download the file again.

Time Warner Bills for Bandwidth in Texas

This is one of those things that will effect us all. I am worried that the low-income families who need internet access will not be able to afford to pay for this type of bandwidth. Let’s look at the article and see:

The company believes the billing system will impact only heavy users, who account for around 5 percent of all customers but typically use more than half of the total network bandwidth, according to a company spokesman.

What only 5 percent most people now a days are watching HULU and stuff that is IPTV like AppleTV and Itunes, even NetFlix Downloads(Which can be a big file download). That alone is more than 5 percent. More like 50 to 60 percent and will impact a lot of families. It is cheaper and faster and more reliable to do this then to watch it on Cable. I think Time Warner is definitely worried, I know I am. I would have to be charged to watch all my favorite TV Shows on the net. I think Time Warner should go IPTV and get it over with!! let’s continue with this:

But the move could prove controversial. Unlike with utility bills such as the phone or electricity, which have traditionally been based on usage, U.S. high-speed Internet subscribers have come to expect a fixed monthly charge. An Internet bill typically only varies based on the speed of the consumer’s Internet access.

Yes this is going to be controversial and very unlikely going to happen due to the fact that people will complain and complain, if we stand up for this we will win but if we don’t we will lose. I know we’ve come to expect a price on internet but we shouldn’t be forced to changed. If time warner does this most people will go to FIOS or other companies like FIOS TV. Just some things to consider when calling Time warner. I urge everyone to stand up and make a voice to Time Warner, and tell everyone you know about what Time Warner is doing. This right now is being done in small portion of Texas and I know they are not liking this. Let your voice be heard!! Thanks to Geek News Central for the heads up!!

Tag Your Tunes by Mood with Moody

moody.pngWindows/Mac only: Tag your iTunes music by mood with the freeware, color-based tagging utility Moody. While your music is playing, just pick a color for the song with Moody’s 16-color scale (sad to happy, calm to intense). Once tagged, Moody writes the mood to the comments of your song’s metadata (it’ll look something like MoodyC3). You can either use that metadata to create mood-based smart playlists or just use Moody to fire up a playlist based on your mood. It may sound a bit tedious, but if you put Moody in quick tag mode, you can tag a lot of music pretty quickly. Moody is freeware, Windows (with .NET) and Mac OS X only.

This one looks good to use if you are in a certain mood!! It has it own idea going for it. I might try it out myself!!
