Come on Twitter add Tweet filters — Ways to prevent twitter spam!

So I am on twitter tonight and I find some common themes:

  • [intlink id=”3493″ type=”post”]Have you ever heard about paid surveys ? I’m making way over $4000 per month working part time .www.hothotjoboffers.com [Keyword][/intlink]
  • Visit www.nakedoncam.info for 100% FREE LIVE CAM GIRLS! #Lobster Jeremy Mayfield Wolverine #startrek Happy Mothers Day

[ad]As you can see this is starting to get bad.   I don’t know why Twitter can’t fix this, by making filter rule that prevent new users from posting the same thing others have or even putting in some Captcha’s and Email verification.  This would stop it really quickly but I am sure I would hear from people that these wouldn’t stop them from coming.  Yes that is true but it would stop some to a lot of them from posting.   They want people to come to there site and they are abusing the Twitter.

On any given day you can search for anything with twitter and come up with some valuable information.  Now this seems to be more and more spam.   There needs to be a way for twitter to stop this but I guess they dont’ want to ruin the experience for new users.

As a long time user of Twitter, I would like to keep using it but since Oprah came to twitter it seems [intlink id=”3344″ type=”post”]Oprah[/intlink] has brought some media attention to our little universe and that in turn has brought the spam people.

Twitter needs to get it’s act together and come up with a way to fix some of these types of spam before it becomes to hard to use twitter.  This also causes load issues with bandwidth and other such problems when Twitter is abused you see the result.   So I hope people retweet this post and tell people to look at this and then tell Twitter to Fix this problem.   The more that tweets to fix this problem the more they will listen.

Hothotjoboffers equals Twiitter Spam

Saw this on the Twitscoop API and had to talk about it:
hothotjoboffersspam1

If you go to the site Hothotjoboffers.com you will be redirected to:

hothotjoboffersspam2 www.makemoneytakingsurveys.org

Now I know more about this then anyone.  I see these types of scams where you can make money by doing survey’s but there are some common princples to consider.  Although I have real doubts to this site because when you try to exist it displays:

hothotjoboffersspam3

I always wonder why spam and other sites alike try to persuade you to stay and look.  When that happens I am thinking to myself, “Yes I am sure and that little box really makes me mad”.   I assume someone bot is making the post to twitter and I wish Twitter would create a rule for this.   This would stop this type of spam from getting to us and others.   Same Text coming from newly created accounts less than a hour with let’s give it 5 max should be prevented from posting until they are verified by either email or other such ways.

I don’t know if you can truely get paid for doing surveys but I know if I did want to I would look for sites that are free and not ones where you have to pay to find good surveys.   This just sounds like a waste of money and time.

Star Trek Movie Experience — My Review

I had the chance to go see it Thursday and would like to talk aobut it:

*Spoiler Alert*

We start out with what I will call a Grandfather parodox, Kirk is born in a shuttle craft because the ship was being emergency Evacuation due to battle damage. Anyways Kirk dad is dead and this is where the Paradox comes into play, later in the movie you will hear “Older Spoker” tell Kirk about his dad. Listen hard and you will see where the paradox event comes into play.

[ad]Anyways this is the premise of the story, Time travel. We get to see how events unfold from the rebirth of Vulcan to the Kobayashi Maru, and How Kirk Handled the actual situation. We also see Physics come into play with Young Kirk jumping from a moving car and surviving. This however quite improbable but some would argue very impossible, see the link for more understanding.

Anyways the action was really good and I actually enjoyed the action pack adventure of James T. Kirk. I actually liked the comical word play going on with McCoy and Spock, and the also with Kirk. We must not forget about Scotty, His character was not seen until middle of the movie but his lines were spot on. We also must remember Uhura, Checkov, and Sulu who also make the movie more lighthearted and keeps the idea of the Origional characters upbringing really well. All in all, Gene Rodenberry dream has been quite well played out in this move because of the way the Director did produce the movie.

Other than some Minor scenes that are not suitable for kids under 12, everything else is an action pack adventure and when you leave the movie you will have a greater appreciation of Star Trek. I would say to anyone who has wanted to learn more about Star Trek to go see this movie, you will find out more about Vulcans, Romulans, and the back story of Kirk and the Crew. I give it an easy 5 stars review and encourage everyone to go see this. movie who is into Science Fiction.

Deciding the need for a Full backup or backing up your important files

This weekend I talked about Backups on the [intlink id=”3455″ type=”post”]Mike Tech Show listener Round table[/intlink], and I heard from one or two people saying you can’t do a full backup with Allwaysync, and to a point that is true but I really don’t need a full back and some have said the program is only good for Synchronization and not backup.

I could debate that last point because what is a backup?  Wikipedia defines it as “backup refers to making copies of data so that these additional copies may be used to restore the original after a data loss event”.   So backing up and Synchronizing are essentially the same thing.  Some users will argue that it is getting every file on your hard drive but I don’t think so.   I however will tell you that Most files on your hard drive don’t need to be copied.   Due to the fact that if you get a complete backup of your windows directory you will most ly end up where you left off, Viruses or some file that corrupt.   I don’t make copies of the windows for that one reason, I have all OEM systems and don’t need to worry about the Windows because when I do a system restore, I get my system back to the Factory default.

With Vista you have some data that is never put in Windows system, like your email settings and other such important date.  This is usually put in the Application Data directory, which is usally “[DRIVE]\USERS\[USERNAME]\AppData” . To get to the directory in Vista just type “%APPDATA%” in the Vista search bar and hit enter.  So I tell Allwaysync to copy everything in that directory including subdirectories.  This is where my configuration files are put for each and every program I install or run!!

People will also argue that you need to compress the data or use a Proprietary software to backup your hard drive, although this can be useful.  The more complicated the process the more chance there is for failure.  My dad always told me to keep it simple.  The simplest is usually the best in my opinion.  If I were to need to backup data, I do not need any program to get to it.   This is how I like it, plus if the drive starts to go bad you have more time to move the data off the backup drive because of moving parts and the magnetic properties could change the compress file just one bit and you would not be able to access the programs inside of it.

I also have a 500 gig external backup drive for use with keeping my data backed up, which my two laptops only use 380 if I back up all of my hard drive space but in my case my data drive is usually just used a safegaurd if I did need to do a restore on the road.  I’d still have my important programs ready to re-install and restoring my configuration files.  I wouldn’t be in the dark if I had to restore on the road.  This is how I keep my important safe.  I use:

  • [intlink id=”3059″ type=”post”]My A600 Broad Band Sd Card[/intlink] — Passwords and such on it
  • My External hard drive —  Important Software and important files
  • Mozy Free 2 Gig – I use this also to put my Passwords and my configuration files here.  It’s free but you can pay 4.95 a month for unlimited.  I like it and it works really well.
  • My spouses computer – We keep our important passwords on each other computer just in case we are on the road with one laptop we can always have access to the passwords for each of our accounts.

This has worked for me for quite some time but this isn’t for everyone, some require the compression on the hard drive and that is fine but I don’t.  I hope this clears it up on what I said on the Mike Tech show.  I did however make a mistake.  This software is not bit by bit coping it is however a file by file copy.   That was my fault and no others.  I’m only human.  Hope you understand.
