Novell credits Microsoft for soaring Linux sales

Novell says its Linux business has grown by 243 percent over the last three quarters, and it largely credits its deal with Microsoft.

Novell has reached $100 million in revenue from Linux over the nine-month period, thanks to the close working relationship it has had with Microsoft since the two companies signed their collaborative deal in November.

I only have one thing to say, Thank you little Penguin it makes a stand in something that actually works.

Gamers spend about $170M on ‘Halo 3’

SEATTLE – Video game enthusiasts in the United States plunked down about $170 million on copies of “Halo 3” in the 24 hours after the Xbox 360 game went on sale, Microsoft Corp. said Wednesday.

“‘Halo 3’ has become a pop-culture phenomenon,” Shane Kim, corporate vice president of Microsoft Game Studios, said in a statement.

The game, which was developed by Microsoft-owned Bungie Studios, completes the saga of helmet-clad Master Chief and his quest to save humankind from aliens.

Fans pre-ordered more than 1.7 million copies of the game, and more than 10,000 stores opened at midnight Monday to start selling, according to Microsoft. The much-anticipated launch was marred only slightly by reports that limited-edition packaging left scratches on game disks.

“The initial demand we’ve seen for ‘Halo 3’ has been astounding,” Jill Hamburger, vice president of movies and games at Best Buy, said in a statement.

Wow, I didn’t expect this did anyone else. I’d figure Halo 3 wouldn’t of top this high of a record!

Destroy all phones: Portable GSM phone jammer

Want to know why I don’t got to the movies anymore? Because consistently and without fail all the times I’ve gone in the past two years I’ve sat behind or in front of — always very near — people talking on the phone. Seriously. So in leiu of throwing Junior Mints at them, I suspect I’ll just get this portable phone jammer for $166 and cut them off at the source.

I don’t suggest buying this because it is illegal in the USA and I personally don’t like the idea of someone jamming my cell phone in case of an emergency! You can buy it in Japan.

iPhone Re-Reviewed (Verdict: Don’t Buy)

It’s about 3 months after the iPhone launch, and happy with the improvements, I was planning to change our “Wait” verdict to a full-on and rabid “Buy”. That wasn’t because of Apple, but because of the cool apps being offered by independent developers. All that came to an end yesterday after the new Apple firmware 1.1.1 neutered the handset. Sure, unlocked iPhones were broken. But more importantly, Apple wiped away the powerful programs that helped push the iPhone to greatness. With this, I’m going to have to move our recommendation from “Wait” to “Don’t hold your breath.” I’m done with this handset until third-party apps come back.

Well Gizmodo pretty much sums up what I have being thinking, It’s not worth buying due to no Third party applications. When they let people use third party applications then It will be an Awesome phone, but until then it isn’t worth buying

Microsoft says to extend XP sales for five months

The world’s largest software maker introduced Windows Vista in January with the plan to phase out sales of its predecessor, Windows XP, by January 30, 2008.

Microsoft said it decided to extend XP sales in response to feedback from computer manufacturers who said there were customers who still wanted to buy the older operating system.

I think this is showing us where Vista is going, down down down. If you want to read the complete article go ahead. I’ll let you decide for yourself.
