Quiet Quitting maybe complicated for some.

Most of the time we don’t really understand what it means to be quiet quit, and we see all these terms flying from around the media about the term. It however is something we all should understand because of the need to understand the idea behind it. Some still don’t truly understand the idea because they never really worked in the office environment. This is where the problem becomes more complicated. I’ve seen many people say the quiet quitters have always been here but it only recently became a thing because of the media hype. I suspect that much is pretty much true. We never really not had quiet quitters because of the companies idea of not paying people for the hard work they do has always been the problem.

So what really are quiet quitters?

Let’s try to explore the real meaning behind the media hype. According to techcrunchmouse.com:

“A quiet quitter is someone who turns up for work and does the bare minimum and limits their activity to that which is in their job description. They will turn up on time, do the basics and nothing more. This type of person is often focused on their role and will not allow people to take advantage of them in the workplace. They will embrace more work if they are rewarded for doing it.”

Most of the time, employers will want the employee to get the quota or do so much a week. These quite quitters are often not meeting the company expectations because of the no reward for do so. This is most often due companies not willing to give people raises or promotions that they deserve. I will say this is a very common tactic with employers to try to give the employee more work for the same amount of pay. This is not a quite quitter or someone who is in it for just money. If someone says that then they dead wrong, you deserve to get paid for extra work or work that you originally wasn’t hired to do. I have seen this where I work and other places, if the company can get you do more work for the same amount of pay they will always take advantage of the employee.

My thoughts on quite quitters

I’m sure we will always have quite quitters and that is something that will need to be considered when it effects other employees or associates who work with the “quite quitter”. They will try to do the bare minimum to get by because they just hate their job or don’t see any future in the job. After all, If you really hate your job shouldn’t you try finding a job you will want to do and make yourself happier. Even if you can’t change your job find ways to get motivated to make your job even more better for yourself. Work life balance is something that everyone struggles with even now because people need to work to pay bills or do the things they love to do. I know more about this than I did when I was just 20 years of age. It seems that we get better at knowing how to enjoy our work and come in with some resemblance of respect for ourselves. When companies work towards employees being taken advantage of then this will stop. It however will never stop because companies are always going to try to make as much money as they can. The only thing you can do is fight for what is right and make sure you are compensated for everything you when you work. Never be afraid to ask for a raise or a promotion when you know you have the right skills or work ethic. They can either say yes or no but each of them will show you if you need to find a new job if they are not willing to do so. At least that is my opinion but I am sure people have done the same thing.

What’s your thoughts on this or do you think it will change? Why not leave a comment and let other know your thoughts on this subject. Let’s start a discussion on this and make noise about what companies have done to you. I’d love to hear your experiences and hear your stories.

How Keyloggers work and why you should worry!

keyloggers

The History of Keyloggers

Keyloggers have been used ever since the dawn of computers.   It used to be a problem even in DOS(Directory of Systems).   If you haven’t used Dos that is normal, it hasn’t been used for years and years but it was still was a problem.  What are Keyloggers?  Well, to put it in a way that even those who might not know about computers will understand, is a program or app that will watch everything you do, this includes everything you might say, might type, and then report back to the person or organization who created the keylogger.   If your phone was infected they could use the keylogger to even know your GPS location and you would not even know it.   This is where it has gone in the past and I am sure it will get even worse in the future because of all the IOT(Internet of Things) we have being used to control our Fridge, or even our thermostat.

The Information gained by a Keylogger

Even today, we should be watchful of who might be looking over our shoulders.   It is even more difficult to do that in security because Keyloggers will tend to hide in the background and not show signs that you have a problem on the system or systems involved.  The information a threat actor might gain from using a keylogger is tremendously valuable.    I don’t say that lightly either, when a threat actor gains control of a system and wants to gain access to something even more secure this is one of the ways they can get the information needed to gain access to that really important documentations.   They can sit on a system for weeks to months without being noticed and gaining valuable information such as passwords, account information’s from banks to email addresses, Even your Social Security Number and even what websites you might of visited while the keylogger is installed on your device.  This is just a small part of how much information a keylogger can gain just by being on a system.   They can learn habits of the user, if you visit a site at 12:13pm almost exactly each day, then they will know what you are doing on your break or what you do at night if this is a system at home.  They could even know your location just by having a keylogger on your phone and be able to track you through the day to figure out your habits.

It’s not a victimless as you think

No matter how many times you hear of keyloggers, you probably don’t realize just the truth of the matter.   That the reason to install keyloggers into a system is for money, extortion, or blackmail.   These are just a few of the reason why a threat actor would do this.   They’re doing this usually for money but not always they will do this to make a statement or gain access to information.   This is where the value of keylogging comes into play, anything a user does can potentially show valuable information from black mailing someone because they are visiting sites we shouldn’t be visiting for pleasure or to get the information needed to impersonate someone to gain access or ruin someone’s credit.   All these can bring shame to the victim and make it even harder to survive.   This is one reason security has always been one of those hit or miss areas in IT.  As soon as we find the program, infection, or worm, they go about coming up with new ways to do it all over it.   You see we are always trying to analyze the structures of the programs they create and find them in the wild.    So as soon as we know about the program they have to change the program to be able to do it again on some other systems.

Why most computer technicians are all over the place.

Miniature Computer Technicians

Too many things and to few technicians

This is really the most common problem.   If you haven’t been watching there seems to be a labor shortage, that means most jobs aren’t getting filled even in the really tech related market.  I can pretty much say with some certainty, businesses are going to be picky who they hire and why they will not hire others.   They might have a goal, or want to fill a position with the best possible candidate.   I am sure most of the businesses are trying to fill the positions but people have thought long and hard and wanting to be appreciated.   This is going to not stop the labor shortages anytime soon.   You can expect that the shortage to last for some time in the future as people rethink what they want to do and how to get that dream job.   It will make it harder on the technology industry also because they will always be short handed until this levels off and the work load gets back to normal.

Most technicians are probably ADD(Attention Deficient Disorder)

Yes, you’ve probably guessed right.   We tend to be more all over the place due to to have the attention span that is normal with working on computer.   There are some that are way better at hiding it or maybe they don’t have it in the first place, but I’m willing to bet at least half do have some form of this disorder.   It’s got to be because it’s why we got into the computer field.   We enjoy seeing what might be around the  corner or what will a customer bring into a computer repair shop.   That’s something we have a lot of experience with is seeing how broken the system is due to inexperience people.

Most technicians have high level of intelligence

This could be bad or good depending on how you see it but I’ve found this to be true with most technicians.  If you seen the Big Bang Theory and seen how Sheldon reacts that is kind of what a technician might do.   Technicians sometimes don’t have those filters you would expect them to do have but they are very friendly.   I am sure if you think about Sheldon on the Big Bang Theory, you might see some of what I am talk about.

Technician’s are not socials sometimes

It might not seem like but sometimes I tend to stay around people they know or maybe even be around people that know about computers.  I know myself, I rarely go to events that isn’t interesting.   If it interests me we can talk about it for days but if it isn’t that interesting, I would probably fall asleep.   This is where computers for me at least brought me into the field of being a technician.

I know this is a short post but I thought maybe some of you would like to know what a technician might be or how he might react.  Do you have suggestions on why a technician might be all over the place or even why he acts the way he does.   Why Not leave a comment and tell your story or tell me what you know.

How Internet of Things are changing our lives

IoT

IOT Security

When we say the Internet Of Things(IOT) it really brings about a bad thought into our minds, or at least in mine.   I never really understood why someone would come up with this term because it bring a bad connotation and that can bring about a lot of hesitancy to buy the devices.   It can be quite hard to understand or even harder to conceptualize the use the devices in question.   IOT is in its simplest form is just that a device that needs to be connected to the internet and be able to connect to a server in some other location such as an camera that is outside to watch the property, or even a wireless connection that is used to monitor the door being locked or unlocked.  This however can be bad because like any other way we have seen bad people figure out ways around this technology and use it for their own devices or against the owners.   The privacy and security of the devices have been almost overlooked in the past due to the newness of the technology and how companies didn’t think about how to implement it in the right way.

IOT Benefits

Security and privacy aside right now, the benefits of using an IOT device is become easier to use.  Even now the technologies associated with the IOT devices are becoming more mature and more reliable.   According to IOT-Analytics There are 40+ emerging technologies from the IOT devices such as Hardware, IOT Marketplace, and even 6G technologies being developed.   The IOT device helps secure out homes and our properties and also help make our lives just a little bit better each day by allowing us to let them to the small jobs in our life or makes it so we feel a little bit more secure in our own little home.  The benefits allows us to automate cleaning the floor or even to communicate with machine to machine which helps speeds up processing of a certain task in the house or allows us to monitor what is going around in the house.  I am not sure the interconnectivity of devices is a huge benefit but it is a benefit to some and I can’t imagine our lives not getting better in the long run.  I think IOT devices and benefits have a long way to go before they will make a bigger difference in our lives.
