How to Remove / Replace a Acer 5739(g) Keyboard!

Carefull not to break those wires!

So I did it!

I removed the keyboard.   The Acer 5739g Series, has been really durable for the past  few years and I still recommend them.  I searched all over the internet for directions and then I just decided to do it without looking around.   It was quite easy, and I thought it would be high time to do a post on how to remove that silly keyboard.   The Acer 5739G keyboard isn’t a big problem but it did take about 10 minutes to do.

How to:

  • Start by removing the battery!

There are a Total of 8 or 9 Screws you need to remove!

  • Once you take the screws out on the back, which are the ones that are the top only where the power cover is.   You will not need to remove any of the screws on the bottom of the laptop only the 8 or 9 screws on the top.  2 of the screws are underneath the battery.

See Picture at the top of the post!

Once you have removed the screws and turned the laptop back over.   You should grab the the cover that is closest to the screen which is the cover that is towards the back it should be really easy to remove and not to difficult to remove.   If it seems to not want to budge, check again for any screws you might have missed.

If you still have difficulty figuring out how to pull that top cover off, you can use your thumbs and and forefinger to peel it up like I did with the picture.

  • Once you have the top of the cover off,  grab the keyboard and peel it back towards you carefully.   Making sure to disconnect the one little cord that tells the motherboard what your typing.   There should be a small latch that you just have to pull up to remove disconnect the cable.
  • When you plug in your cords you should not see this! You will should see the normal line indicating that the cords are secure!

  • Replace with a brand new Acer 5739g Keyboard, I found mine on Amazon US for about 10$ to 15$ and you should have no problem installing it.  All you will need to do  is reverse the steps I just given you to secure the new keyboard to the laptop.  You can check Ebay for a cheaper keyboard if you are wanting to try to save even more money but it depends on who has them and how well you trust that vendor!

If you pull the cords off by accidents!

You’ll have two small cords that are the power signal cord and the wifi, media player cords.   When I first did this, I actually did this and it wasn’t a big problem.  You will just need to connect them back to their spots and before you screw in the top cover you should plug in your power cord and see lights.   if you see this, then unplug the cord and reposition the cords and making sure those snaps are push down.   Don’t push to hard but do it gently!

That’s it, after you do this you have a new keyboard for your laptop that should keep that laptop running to days to come.   I will also talk about how to remove the Mouse and installing a new hard drive in the coming weeks.   What you may want to consider when you need to fix some of the most common problems of a laptop.

Nothing but problems!

My Acer Aspire, is almost gone.   I hate to say it because my keyboard is falling apart and that means I can’t do any editing and writing my book!  Seems I need to figure out just how much money I will need to put into a new laptop.   I hate to have to buy a new one but it does look like it is much needed and to keep me on my toes with the latest technology.  The Good news is since I started talking about the Sponsor VPN4ALL, thanks guys, by the end of the year so far I will have made $248.89 but I am sure that isn’t going to be all.

I dropped my Acer A200 on Purpose and I’ll tell you why!

Political Fail blog tablet broken by SFPD Occupy Oakland Move in day 28 protest-0091.jpg

I was in the electronic department!

Your probably would never drop your Acer Tablet A200 on the floor purposing to prove a point.  Most people don’t know how Durable the Acer Tablet is and how easily it recovers from drops and falls.   I must admit the tablet did have a Cover on it [Poetic(TM) Stand Leather Case with Angle Adjustable with HandStrap].  The lady was surprised but what she did not know.   I had a great insurance plan for my tablet if it breaks ,however she wasn’t told that.

That was a Bold Move!

I simply believe this Acer Tablet is way better than any Ipad and I like to prove it to people around my community.   I however know what people will say.   Sooner or later you will drop it enough to damage it and I’d have to say your right.  It isn’t unbreakable but built tough and I know how useful this tablet is.

The End of the Story!

I am sure you probably wondering why I wanted to share this story.   In the end, I helped the lady find a tablet that is best suited for her 3 to 5 year sons.  It however is probably going to be stuck in her mind about this Acer Tablet and my blog.  I happened to tell her about it.  I wanted to reach and find out what happened to that tablet you bought your kids and find out how it is doing?  If your reading this, Let me know and tell me what you think of that tablet!  In the end, I still recommend The Acer A200 Tablet to anyone who wants a cheap durable tablet for your self or your family member.!

Google Chromebooks — Looks can be deceiving!

Laptops don’t last forever!

I know I’ve had this Acer Aspire 5739G for over 3 years now and it is showing quite a bit of wear and tear.   It looks like I might need to invest a new laptop to do all of what I need with it.  So I’ve been doing a little research and found the Acer C7 Chromebook [Affiliate Link].   It has the Chrome OS so it should be interesting to say the least. Some of the Specs of this Chrome Book is:

Screen Size 11.6 inches
Screen Resolution 1366×768
Max Screen Resolution 1366 x 768
Processor 1.10 GHz Phenom Dual-Core
RAM 2.00 GB
Hard Drive 320 GB HDD 5400 rpm
Chipset Brand Intel
Wireless Type 802.11bgn

Small but powerful!

As you can see this isn’t a really powerful notebook. I really don’t think I need a powerful notebook to be able to do what I need to online.   I’ve been using the my Acer Tablet more and more to do just what needs to be done.   I’ve not really been using my notebook, well lets face it, it is going to break sooner or later and I am trying to only use it for the blogging and other such stuff like that.   Everything that I need to do is being done with my Tablet and I’m have no problems with it.   I can watch movies and shows from it when I need to and It is small enough to take just about anywhere.   The only problem I may have with it is the ability to use it a notebook.   This is where I will need an actual notebook that isn’t to big or to bulky to take with me from time to time.

Installing Another OS!

267232_300x250USA

If I get this, I might just have fun and install Kubuntu on it but that is after I check out the Chrome OS and see how it is.   I’ve not order this Chromebook just yet because I am going to wait and see how to buy it.   I am however quite interested in the promises it says up to 4 hours of battery life.   Will it last 4 hours without a charge that is a good question.  I’ve read one writers experience with at least one version of the Chrome OS.  So this makes me wonder if I will have the same problem with the OS as they had with it.

Don’t need everything!

I don’t really need everything but it would be nice to blog and use it offline, so I might have to install Kubuntu when I and IF I get it.   I’m one of those that knows that it isn’t the end of the world if you find it not working just perfectly.   I will however explore other options and notebooks if I find something that will work under 300$.   I’m currently can only spend that much money on a notebook or laptop to be able to blog with.   So I am going to look around and see.   If you know of any good notebooks that you would recommend leave a comment or contact me and let me know.   I’d love to find out which one(s) your using and why!

How to Change DNS on a Acer A200 / A500 Tablet!

acer-iconia-a500

Fix paging times!

So I have a little problem that I thought would be a good topic to discuss and teach others how to do just in case it happens to to you.   I recently started have page load times slow down and didn’t understand why until I changed the DNS settings on my Acer Tablet!   Seems that it can be kind of tricky to find this out on the web.

Problems with some DNS Providers!

Use Coupon Code “savenow15” and Save 15% off the lifetime of your account!

Having seen this from time to time, I know that any DNS Provider can have really bad network lag and thus impact your browsing the internet.   You can solve that by changing the DNS to a faster network.  The Problem I’ve been having is not knowing how to do it until recently.  You can change the DNS in your router but that won’t help you if you decide to visit a Hotspot or a Free Wifi.

The Fix!

If your like me, you may need to do this a couple times to get the hang of it but it is quite simple once you understand how.

Go into your Wireless settings and look for the wifi connection your on or using at the time and just do a Long press until you get a screen that ask if you want to forget the network or modify the network.

Once you click Modify the network, you half way there.   Check the Show Advance Options and change the DHCP to a Static IP.    Once you’ve done that you will see DNS 1 and DNS 2 settings.   I suggest changing them to the OpenDNS Servers : 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220. Although this is simply a suggestion you can any DNS Provider you can think to do the job!

Hope this helps, I will have more tips and tricks later on but this one was something that I thought you might want to know right now!
