What would you do? No Electricy, No Phone, No Internet?

World Net Daily published an Article that really made me think.

What would you do with your website if we had no Electricity?  That is a valid question?  Would it pay for itself or would you loost your domain and all because you couldn’t pay the website bill because you had no way to pay?  Just like Discovery, Mastercard, and Visa credit cards would become useless because there would be no way to use them in today’s technology.

[ad#cricket-right-ez]If we had a Electromagnet Pulse explode over your country, there would be no clean water, no gas, no electricity, and you’d have to walk everywhere.   Plus this would cause industry to screech to a halt.   There would be no more food coming in for stores or packages being delivered.

It represents what MacGyver the show once talked about crippling the entire city.  The episode was Called “Easy Target” and was produced in 1989 quite a few years ago but still shows just how people have been talking about this for quite some time.

This all stems for the Doomsday Scenario, in which we all would have to struggle to live for several months or over a year.  Do you think you could survive that?  I ask these questions to make people think and come up with your own answers.  I’m going to buy the book and read it just because it is though provoking!!

A600 has an External RF Antenna

After someone makes a comment on disqus about there being an external antenna plug and I found it:

As you can see the External antenna connector is on the back of the a600, I have talked to someone who says he thinks he knows which ones will work but I wanted to let people know who only have a bar who wants a better connection. I will be testing out some stuff later on next week and will post about it and how much of a difference they make in long run.

If you want to see it for yourself just take the rubber piece off the back right near the Cricket name, it looks to be easily taken off and put back on. I just used my fingernails to get it off, so it should be really easy to do!!

Fake Scareware Sites Popup after the Pifts.EXE Conspiracy

There Seems to Be a Fake site that are popping up today right after what happened with PIFTS.EXE. I just happen to Google it to see what people are talking about and this appears on the front page.

As you can see this leads to a server in Poland and once you go to it you see:

So if you are worried you have a virus or think you have a virus I would advise you to download one of the free Many anti-virus software and firewall. This is nothing new with the companies who are doing this but don’t buy anything because people are trying to scare you into thinking you have a virus. That rarely is a valid software and you should use the ones that you trust. If you find a site like that please report them to Phishtank and other sites that way we can protect everyone who goes there.

It looks like they are having some troubles with Google MAIL today. This is one of those days I would love to actually go into work to day. If you want to check the status of Gmail You should visit there support page. I have checked it out and it does appear to have a problem with HTML and JAVASCRIPT, but the IMAP functionality seems to work just fine. I have been able to to receive email through IMAP although being kind of slower then normal but It is at least working. SO “DON”T PANIC”, the service will be up and running sometime today!!

*Update*

As Of 7:30am EST the service is back up on my network. So like I said no worries. Good Job Google!!

This seems to be an virus that is getting some people hit hard.   I wanted to blog about this because of the nature of Virus and Trojans.   I have read reports that this might be from Online Movies, and I have to say this is one reason why you must stay away from certain online movies.  I am going to take a guess that this virus requires a special CODEC, and you downloaded it and installed it.  It Could also be the update the Adobe Flash player idea to but still results in getting the Virus.

As I said before you take a risk when you go to sites you don’t trust or know anything about.   You also should know that if you need a “SPECIAL” codec, you should just go on to another site.  These sites that claim they need this special codec means only one thing they want to install something without your Knowledge.

So what is this Virus:

The Virut family of viruses uses polymorphism to hide from all anti-virus protection, it infects executable files. File infection makes it very hard to repair a system that has been infected. W32/Vitro injects code in running processes and hooks the following functions in ntdll.dll which transfers control to the virus every time any of these function calls are made.

* NtCreateProcessEx
* NtOpenFile
* NtQueryInformationProcess

After you get this very bad Virus you are done for.  You would need to install the Operating system from backups or even start a new.   This seems to be building this week and there isn’t much you can do once your infected.  I do recommend a good Anti-virus and Firewall but that wouldn’t fix the problem right now.  You will need to pull your backups out and start the process.  I suggest a complete wipe and then do the Restoring the backups.  This little virus likes to infect any .EXE it can so just restoring the Windows Directory will not help.  Remember only you can prevent from getting infected.
