How To tell you Friends or Family they’ve got a computer virus!

After all, just one virus on a computer is one too many.  — Glenn Turner

It’s Sometimes isn’t easy telling your family or friends that they have a computer virus.   Sometimes, you feel like you just beating an old horse.  I’ve always had the philosophy that it isn’t going to change until you make it change.  In this little quick article I am going to give you a few tips and tricks to help tell your friends that they have a virus.

Simple ways to Tell your friends/family:

  • Flickr — Find a Photo and send to you Family/Friend
  • Pintrest — Another Good Photo sharing site!
  • Send them my Antivirus Page!
  • Twitter — If your know their twitter account, send them a Quote about a Virus!
  • Facebook — If they are your friend on Facebook then you tell them out right!

Explain to them about a Computer Virus!

I kid you not.  I sometimes have to explain why they get a virus.  It isn’t allways going to be easy because of the way people feel embarrassed that they have a virus but if they don’t know how can they fix the problem. A computer virus can be a very touchy subject to some of them and thus you will have to consider someone’s feelings when it is time to tell them that they have a virus.   I am not going to go into a lot of detail on this article because everyone is a little bit different when it comes to their attitude about having a computer virus.  Some will laugh others will get really defensive and thus if I try to tell you to do it a certain way you may end up hating this post, but the hope is that you can have the courage to help stop the spread of these darn pesky computer viruses.

Not telling your Family or Friends can lead to the problem at hand.   Remember only you can prevent the spread of Viruses or Malware!

Four Lessons I’ve learned from Blogging!

iPad 2 Launch // Austin by achimh, on FlickrBoy have I learned A lot!

I’ve not sure how many have seen the changes the last few days on my site.  If you haven’t you should really check it out and see just what I’ve done to better become better at blogging.   I’ve really done a lot in the past two weeks and that isn’t including what I’ve done with my life.   I’ve found a job that requires me to work on the weekend.  Some of you are probably saying OUCH, I know my kids will have to deal with me on the week days only for the time being.  If your wondering, I’ve decided to try to be less intrusive on the Advertising and see how that works.   I’ve pretty much have nothing to loose and everything to gain if more people will sign up for the newsletter.  I don’t know when I’ll post more regularly next week but I’m hoping once everything settles down, this will become a more friendlier place.   I decided to leave Hostgator behind in hopes to have the site load faster and be able to change it when I want to.   My choice so far is Squarespace, it seems to have what I want and let’s me do everything I’ve always wanted to do with very little effort.

Don’t accept mediocrity!

What is mediocrity? I won’t go into much detail but in simple english it is a person who accepts the average. When I first started blogging, I wanted to be extraordinary but that can sometimes be really difficult when it comes to blogging and knowing how to blog.   It really doesn’t matter what you think of yourself but what others think of your first.   If you can proof yourself better than the average person then you are more likely to set an example for the ones to come.   This is my dream, that I might be able to set some examples in todays society.  It can be hard and I’m sure it will always be interesting, to some that can be easy but others it is extremely hard to be successful blogger.  I’ve pretty much decided that nothing is going to stop me from being EXTRAordinary, but the path to that is going to be a hard and trechous one!  I’m sure it will get better in the days to come but the road less travelled always has sharp rocks!

Don’t Sweat the Small stuff!

I used to worry about those small posts that no body really read.   It was something that was a constant reminder of what I’ve not done right.  I don’t know about you but this can be very hard for some, me included. I’ve learn that the small posts are just a way of testing the waters.   Something that comes with time and experience.   I won’t say that it is going to be easy but it will be interesting.  If your like me, I love to be interesting and not nothing.  Just think, you might be a the next big blogger.   I’ve no longer worried about my stats but I am using my comments and emails to find out how people are liking my post.  You just got to remember to not be dishonest with your readers, this will make their experience much better and yours.

Simpler is Better!

This is something that I’ve come to realize the last few weeks.   My blog got so bloated with stuff that I thought it was a cruise liner and not a yacht.   If your like me, sometimes you need to re-evaluate your blog and see where you can trim it down or make it faster.  I’ve decided on my blog to change everything and make it less intrusive with advertising, I think that is something that can help my blog grow.   It however will always take time and you can’t always expect it take off immediantly.  If your really want to make some money on your blog, you might consider reader ProBlogger: Secrets for Blogging Your Way to a Six-Figure Income [Affiliate Link].  I’ve just started reading this book and have found it extremely helpful with my blogging and understand how to write a better post.

Refocusing your posts!

Don’t always assume that your posts are big.  If you don’t sit down and think your article out, you may loose people.   If your going to post about your blog and not think of your readers experience then you are just asking for problems down the road.   I won’t tell you how to refocus but I will say this, if you want reader engagement then you must come up with your content and make it your passion.   It however just depends on you and no one else.  If your interested in learning how to become a better blogger, you might check out some of these books [Affiliate Link] to help you on your way.

Why I don’t do Social Media!

Social Media Cafe Social Media Cafe (Photo credit: Cristiano Betta)

Social media is in!

I know I am probably the only one who isn’t using social media to best possible out come.  You’ve probably even seen post from other blogs about how to use Social Media to the Fullest!  I don’t always get what it is about social media and blogging. I’m sure there are always going be blogs posting about how great Social Media is, but I JUST don’t get it.   Nothing I’ve seen yet makes me understand why people are so worried about being a Social Media giant.

Not everything is for Popularity!

I don’t say that lightly because obviously, I started this blog to have a community.   I however am not interested in what people are saying on the social media front, I’m more interested in community and getting to know my readers than to just use social media.  I’m not against the idea of using it for it’s purpose but I have very few hours in a day,  I don’t have time to keep up with what is going on in Twitter, Facebook, and other media outlets.  I’ve even heard about this new social media website pinterest but haven’t used it.   It however does look interesting but yet another why to be more Social.

I have twitter accounts and such!

I still have a twitter account for the one reason to let people know when I post a new article and such for other services like Facebook.   I just don’t keep track of what is going on in the tech world by using social media.   I occasionally do look around the media circuit but I’m not going to sit there for hours on end to see what everyone is saying.  It isn’t how I find the information, it is when I find the information.   With social media, you’re really just getting it just a little bit more faster than the people who are using social media to find the information.

Do you use Social Media?

I’m Curious to see how much people use Social Media, so I have created a Poll and would like to here how much you use Social Media!

Reviewing the LG 620g From Straight Talk!

Straight Talk LG 620g
The LG 620g!

I had LG 620g Prepaid Slider Phone (Straight Talk) (Affiliate link) for quite some time.  So I know a lot about it and wanted to talk about it.   Before I start talking about it lets at least get the spec’s out of the way:

  • Stylish Slider Phone Design
  • 1.3 Megapixel Camera and Video Recorder
  • MP3 Player (cable and SD card not included)
  • Mobile Web Services
  • Bluetooth® Wireless Technology
  • FM Radio
  • MMS picture messaging
  • Text Messaging
  • Hearing Aid Compatible (HAC) Rating: M3/T3
  • Hands-free Speaker
  • Voice Recorder
  • Voicemail and Call Waiting
  • Key Pad Lock and Alarm Clock
  • Phonebook with up to 1.000 entries
  • Downloadable ringtones and graphics
  • Vibration Alert
  • Polyphonic Ringtones
  • Battery Talk Time up to 5 hours
  • Standby Time up to 9 days
  • Includes Charger and Services Guide

The Break down of the Phone!

Pro’s for the Phone:

  • Hands-free Speaker — I used this alot while driving and it worked pretty good when needed.  I had no problem talking to my family or friends .
  • The sliding Phone design — I like that it was slim and made it quite useful because it minimized the surface area of the phone when not in used.
  • Alarm Clock — Used this to help wake me up in the mornings and had no problems selecting the alarm type and when to go off.   Great morning wake up for me since I am a light sleeper anyways.
  • Vibration alert — This was also very useful when you have voicemail or text messages and don’t want anyone to know you had a alert go off.
  • Mobile Web Services — Great plus because I good use all my Google accounts with the phone and check my emails and also use my Google voice service with the phone.
  • Bluetooth —  Worked great with my bluetooth headset and you can use any blue tooth headset you have with it and not have any major problems.
  • MicroSD card — I used this with my 32 gb Micro SD card and it worked flawlessly to backup contacts and text messages to the SD card.   I can even play MP3 files on it.
  • External Antenna —  I used the Wp-359921 cable to extend the  range of the antenna and not worry about antenna strength.   The antenna connector is located under the battery cover.   You don’t have to take the batter y out to use an antenna with it.  It makes it just that much more useful.   You can also use the mobile web with an external antenna.

The Con’s:

  • Nine day standby time —  It claims to have a 9 standby time but I seriously doubt that.   I can’t be for sure because I used it off and on but know it wouldn’t last more than 3 days without needing to be charged while in use.
  • Text Messaging — Once you get to the 100% filled in text messages you just have to start deleting them but it should have a setting to delete the old messages first as new ones come in.   I don’t know if this is something they could implement but It is a pain to go through you text messages and have to manually do it to everyone of them.
  • MMS Picture Messaging  —  I loved having a decent camera but the bad part of it is that I couldn’t send to anyone.   I don’t know if I just did it wrong or not but it never really worked for me.

The Conclusion!

I had this phone but the screen broke.  I would recommend this phone to anyone who might need a cheap Straight Talk phone (Affiliate link).     I guess I should of kept better care of it.   I ordered a Straight Talk Samsung T404G (Affiliate link) and am waiting for it to come in the mail as we speak. I will give you a better overview of the new phone next month sometime.  I like that it can do everyone the 620g can do but also has a sliding keyboard for texting.
