Geek News Central is have a 24 hour Marathon to raise money to the OLPC. OLPC for people who don’t know is the One Laptop Per Child. This is an excellent opportunity to help out where there is no technology. I encourage you to donate to this cause, even a dollar will help out.

    Sync Office Documents to Google Docs with DocSyncer

    Windows only: Free web site/software combo DocSyncer has just rolled out its public beta, pitching a set-it-and-forget-it way of syncing your computer’s documents with Google Docs. After signing up and installing the software, DocSyncer goes to work uploading all the Microsoft Office and OpenOffice documents it finds in your Documents and Desktop folders. You can then choose which file types will be synced to Google Docs and set DocSyncer to open those files with local software instead of Google Docs, but you’ll likely want to make a few more tweaks before leaving it running.

    Intel to delay 45nm quads – report

    ACCORDING TO A REPORT, Intel has decided to postpone the launch of its 45nm quad-core CPUs because AMD is in such a mess.

    Digitimes said it learned from motherboard makers that the chippery was scheduled to launch in January next year. But now the mobo mob have coughed that the launch will be put back a month or two.

    UStream.TV Gets Some Cash And General Wesley Clark

    What does General Wesley Clark know about live Web video? Apparently enough to land him a seat on Ustream.TV’s board of advisors. Or maybe they just liked his shiny medals. The company also announced a funding round today from Band of Angels and Western Technology Investors, which specializes in debt financing for startups. The amount was not disclosed.

    Ustream.TV is a site for live Web video broadcasting that launched last March. It claims 115,000 people have used the service, “broadcasting one million unique viewer hours per month,” whatever that means. (How do you broadcast a “unique viewer hour”?) Anyway, that comes to about 5,000 hours of video a day, attracting a few hundred thousand viewers. Most of the broadcasters are regular consumers, but the site has also been used by presidential candidates, and the Plain White Ts rock band to broadcast a live concert that was watched by 150,000 fans online.

    This sounds like Ustream.tv is getting even more better. I hope to see more stuff from them now!! Wonder what they have planned for it now!!
