Find real Jobs isn’t easy

How you find a real Job?  It can be very frustrating that all these jobs available but are they real?  As of today, I am thinking some of those jobs aren’t real.  I’ve seen jobs come by and I applied for them and then they come back up in the next month or a few weeks.   I thought it would be a good idea to talk about this even more.   I know I’ve talked about Job Hunting 101: Mastering the Art of Applying for Positions.  However, I thought we should deep dive into what most people are a calling Ghost jobs.  It seems that these ghost jobs or companies are trying to suggest that they are looking for work but are just trying to farm applicants.   Some of these companies are just trying to fool their workers that they are looking for people to help with their work.  I have thought more and more that Jobs in 2024 will be harder to find and It seems that will continue through this recession that we are most likely going to have.

Finding Real Jobs

Are there real jobs in the job Market?  Most of the people are looking for jobs right now than ever before in the past.   I’m seeing more people being laid off, and that can be a real problem in looking for a real job online.  Here are some of my tips to know if the job is real or not, and you can possibly save yourself some time and effort:

  • Use Indeed’s company reviews – If the company in question is really below 3 or 2.5 you can probably guess they aren’t going to be   Here is some points to make though.  If you see people making comments that the work life balance isn’t good that is probably an employer or is trying to fool their employees and keep them there.
  • Vague job postings – This seems to be another tactic that is being talked about by everyone around that companies are just posting jobs to crowd source when they do begin to hire.  You might just get a bite a few months down the line if you applied to jobs like that.
  • Listings are closed – Here’s another tactic for employers they will intentionally keep the listing active just in case the job applicant quits while being trained or something like that.  They also may be overwork and just forgets to remove the listing.   Either way this one can be quite frustrating.

Job hunting fatigue is real thing and most people don’t understand it.   The truth of the matter is that you can find a job even right now if you really go a different route.   Connect with recruiters on LinkedIn and create content to highlight what you’re good at is one way to find those jobs that companies are wanting to fill.   Create Google Alerts for keywords for jobs that you are looking for new jobs.   However this will occasionally bring in those Ghost Jobs because companies will re-post the same job and Google will see these as new jobs and not old jobs.  So you should be cautious about which ones to apply to.  Networking is the best way I can tell you to finding a job, because it is something that has been proven in the past to land a job even in my case.  If you know someone who works at Microsoft, they can probably put in a good word for you to get that job you are wanting.

Remember, you’re not alone in this more and more are finding my job asking the same questions.  Don’t forget to check out Strategic Job Applications: How AI Can Be Your Secret Weapon to help you craft that cover letter and make sure your getting past the filters that is setup to be seen by a recruiter or hiring manager.

Submitting Online Applications: Dos and Don’ts

How do I submits Job applications online?   Is always the first question I usually get when I am trying to find a job.   I want to make sure I apply in the right to get some kind of response and maybe a good interview possibilities.  This will be me telling you how I apply and making sure I get the right response and possibly invitations to apply type of jobs.   Each person will have different results depending on how they complete the process.

  • Do find the jobs that you want to do.
  • Do follow up with recruiters or HR after the interview.
  • Do write the applications as if you are the best fit.
  • Do create a resume that fits that job.

And

  • Don’t Just apply to any job you can.
  • Don’t be in a hurry to fill out the application
  • Don’t send a generic Resume.

Each employer will vary depending on what they may require you to do to get an interview, so you must read the job description and try to figure what they may need.  You can also start filling out certain job assessments online by using the Indeed assessment portal.  Like everything else this helps the employer know if you have the right qualifications and skills that they might be looking for.   You can also do some more self assessments are something that you can do to prepare for some of this and this could ultimately help you identify what you might be good at if you haven’t already done that.   Knowing what you are good at will help you get the job,  Even though I said that in the other blog posts.  This is how you can get a job that you might be good at.

Following the Job applications requirements will be something that no one can truly master because the employers sometimes makes it harder than it typically needs to be.   They want to make sure you want the job and that can make it even harder to get the job.   However once you have the job the satisfaction of saying you’ve got a job far out ways the hardship of getting the job.

Customizing Applications for Various Job Types

Why would you need to customize an applications?  That is the first questions you might have, when you think about the whole purpose of the application.   Some more interesting aspects of customizing the application is that makes it harder to any employer to track from employer to employer.   Most of the time, they aren’t tracking people but if you have already applied to that company before it makes it a bit harder to look back at the other applications and associate it with the same person.  After you decide which job you want to apply to, customize the applications or resume to make them see your the best possible fit for the job.  If you do this right, you might get an interview with company and be offered a job.

Understanding Pre-employment Assessments

Knowing what the employer might want you to do like an assessments from your local state unemployment office or some other places.  Knowing that you may need to be able to type a certain amount of speed or that you know how to handle customers.  This tells the employer that your skills match what they might be looking for so this can be great way to show off your skills in the application process.  You should do a background check on yourself, and even tell your references you are using them to apply for the job, that way they know to expect a possible phone call.   Sometimes employers will call or just they asks for the references for one reason or another.  I will say there is an good blog post from Indeed of what you might need to do for the pre-employment checks that you might need to do.   Some other good places to look:

As you can see, there is so many things that must be done before you get hired that it is almost impossible to go through the whole process of talking about the pre-employment tests and assessments but this is generally just to help you understand what you might need to do to get that job offer either before the interview process or after the interview process and they want you to do the pre employment testing to make sure you are the right candidate for the job.  So i can’t possibly talk about all the process.  You’re going to have to do the research before you get through the whole process.   However this is just a small bit of what you might need to do accomplish getting a job.

Why companies are claiming Entry Level Positions on Job applications!

Why Recruiters Try to Trick Applicants?

This is one of the  ways that really makes me think this is a RED flag that you shouldn’t go to this company even if you are desperate because you will not last long. In the long run, it is something that I don’t get why they do this other than a few possible reasons. I’m going to break them down for you and try to explain it even more.  Here is one Example of that I have seen in the last week:

No mentioning of Entry Level Position.

As you can see when they called for the first level of interviews they were adamant that it was an Entry level position but I had some problems with that comment and pointed it out to the hiring manager. She avoided saying why that was but I know there was more to this than they are willing to talk about.

Cheap Labor – This is the main reason they try to tell people without posting it in their job description is that they want to get the cheapest labor they can.  9 times out of 10 this is the reason they try to get say this to get those who have the experience to go down in their amount they are wanting to get hired.   This isn’t the best way to draw in applicants by making the job seem less than it is and it doesn’t help with retaining people in the long run.

Bait and Switch – This is also sometimes why they do this to get you in the door to give you even more work than you thought you would be getting into.   I haven’t had this happen to me yet but I am leery of them doing this.   I know they are trying to find people for certain roles but I would think they would be honest about it.

Underlying Problems

There are so many underlying problems with this approach but I won’t go into them all.  I however think most companies would want the best possible talent they can get.   However that isn’t how it is, most companies work for their CEO and their stock holders.   They have to make money and paying people what is right to work and even inflation considerations wouldn’t work well for the ones who have the stocks and even CEO wouldn’t get as much money.

Pay for Entry Level

When they told me the pay they are willing which was 17$, I was a bit shocked because the even if they want to pay you the lowest hourly rate out there that just means they don’t value their employees and this just shows it even more.   According ZipRecruiter when I looked up the pay range for It Support Specialist Salary it was more than they are willing to pay which means that I shouldn’t count on them calling me back or I should continuing looking for a new job somewhere else because they obviously aren’t looking to pay me what I deserve to be paid.

In the Meantime

Well in the mean time, I’ll apply for other jobs and consider this jobs as loss and try looking for another job that will pay me more than this previous interview.   I know there must be companies out there that will value their employees.  I’ll start asking more questions and tell them my pay expectations up front.   I don’t want to get low balled and trying to find a job that isn’t a good fit.  Each time I get an interview I am hesitant to talk about my pay requirements because they will likely trying to undercut me and give me something that isn’t even range that I might need or require to live.   Are you having the same issues or problems like I am looking for a new job?   Companies trying to pay you less than you deserve or maybe they aren’t even calling you back?  Let’s create a discussion about this so others can find out just how hard this can be right now.   Don’t forget to subscribe to my blog if you like what you read.

Doing a 160, isn’t easy!

You’ve seen that the last few weeks, I’ve become more honest about my Affiliate Links, this is the one approach that seems to be working best with what I am intending to do. I however am feeling that You probably are getting tired of just seeing affiliate links.  I have been reading about how to do it better affiliate marketing!  Even Though I’ve not been as successful as I would like to be, I will be working a that in the next few weeks but first we need to fix some common errors in the webpage design!

In the coming weeks, I will find a more professional template that I can use for my blog.  I haven’t found one just yet but I will be looking.   I also am wondering what the tagline should be.   I’ve been looking around for ideas but I thought I would ask my readers what they think the tagline should be!

Does All this really Matter?

I’ve been thinking about this aspect of the blogging and I wanted to share with you some of the key points that I’ve come to realize and retain from my experiences.   I’d like to share some of them with you and help others who are asking the questions about Affiliate Marketing conundrum.

There isn’t really any way to be successful if you don’t at least try.

Learn from your mistakes and change accordingly.

Don’t keep doing what you’ve been doing, think outside the box!

Without risks there isn’t any loses, so step out and take a chance!

Keep in contact with your affiliates and they can help you!

Research the product or service before you post.

Try to give away a free product/service this helps from time to time!

Be Honest about your Affiliate links! It just makes good cents!

I’ve come to realize these eight points but I am sure I will be reading even more in the coming weeks.  I’m going to sit down and start reading even more about how to do it right.   I’m tired of making little to nothing with my blog and thus I will be working really hard at changing that.  I’m unsure of how I will accomplish this but it does make even more sense to me that if I don’t change I will only be hurting you the reader and in the long run, I will also be hurting myself because of the possible money that I could be making.   I’m you want to support me, you can always visit my Support Affiliate page and find something that will help you.  I will of course be changing my approach, but I won’t stop doing blogging about products or services that I think you may be interested in.

Before you go!

Tax deadline is coming up in the few months, you only have like 12 weeks to file your taxes.   If your expecting a large return you should consider buying yourself some stylish and better quality Prescription Glasses from Glasses USA (Affiliate Link) then you could buy at any Walmart Store.  I simply love to go their every year to see what Styles they have and what I might want to buy.  This year, I’m really interested in iSee 2004 Gunmetal  (Affiliate Link).  I’ll be getting these sometime in next few weeks and probably do a nice review of the Glasses themself.  I strongly recommend you go check these and other glasses, that way you can be prepared to buy them when you get your refund back from taxes.

Why Opt-in is better than Opting-Out!

Starbucks Touchscreen Storefronts Image by DavidErickson via Flickr

Opting-out on Anything Worries me!

If your like me, you probably have had those experiences where you were automatically added to a list or even something like a spam list.   I’ve probably seen it all if you ask me, I know I’ve seen those phones calls where I get pitched an idea or even trying to glean some other personal information from me.   That is what really worries me sometimes, not knowing about my privacy and who all has my personal information.

Someone reader over at the GNC blog commented and said “I wouldn’t mind if starbucks comes to my place and give me a free morning coffee.”  When I read that comment it made me think about how much some people like to just be auto-subscribed to emails and charged money for things they didn’t asked to be charged for.

Differences between Starbucks and Amazon!

Hey lets face it, I wouldn’t mind a free coffee now and then.   Starbucks isn’t going to find you and give your a free coffee because that would go under the stalking rule.    They probably don’t even have your credit card on file to charge your account if you buy something else along side that coffee in the first place.   You have physically be in the store to even have a chance at getting a free coffee.

Amazon on the other hand, in my opinion has some things that can be trouble down the road.  They have your personal information in a database, which could lead to identity theft.   I really don’t think it is a real possibility but I have to at least throw that out and say it.   They also have your Credit Card on file to charge for things on their website, Kindle, and Roku Box.  It’s called the One Click buy, you don’t have much security but a pin that someone could easily guess or keep trying until they get it right.   Although Amazon has some great policies in place to let you get your money back that is, if you can prove that it was malicious and that you didn’t authorize them.

Let me Opt in!

Amazon could of easily prevented this debacle in the first place by sending out email to a select few people offering them the chance to try this Kindle Fire Compass and telling them what will happen if they do try it out.   How much it would cost after the 14 days of trial are over with and what the main idea about the product.   If they just did that, no one would of minded to try it out.   Heck, I would of jumped aboard if they ask me but I was one of the lucky few who didn’t get picked.

My Blog will always be Opt-in!

I know one thing, I will never give out your information to anyone.   For that matter will ever send out unsolicited emails from me. The one reason you might want to consider subscribing to my email campaign is to keep up to date on any new posts.   If you want to opt in and get my updates sent to your emails please join the list.
